So many other great lineups have dropped in the last few weeks to the point where Firefly really needs to deliver for me to want to go. I think the hold up is definitely Rage.

Everybody knows RATM/MCR are touring this summer, but nobody knows where they are playing beyond a total of 3-4 venues with onsales. RATM dates in Arizona/new Mexico 6 weeks from now are still up in the air.
I'm wondering if RATM are waiting for the Trump State of the Union address on Feb 4th. There will be a fresh bunch of RAGE after the impeachment fizzles and he does another crazy speech on every tv channel.
I don't think RATM/Foo/RHCP will have trouble selling passes, even if young music fans scratch their heads a bit.

Not to get into the weeds here at all, but I don't think RATM need to hold up a tour to wait for any more political tension. The oven is pre-heated just fine there.

Strokes are out. Their Europe fest leg starts before this in June.
I'm going to assume that this is held up for the same reason as BC - Rage.
With that being said, why not release it with the #1 blurred out? Can Rage dictate that as well? "Don't blur our name out on your released lineup or we'll pull".

I'm sure they could say that, who knows if they would.
They probably learned their lesson in 2015 and will just wait until everything is 100% ready.
I agree. The initial public press with a headliner blurred out is probably more harmful to the bottom line then waiting and announcing everything at once. Especially if the rest isn't great

Right, imagine
<blurred headliner> - Billie Eilish - Cage the Elephant

Lol that wouldn't go over very well.
Personally, I can't see Cage as 3rd. They put on a great show but the new album didn't seem to go over that well. I'm kinda out of the loop on iHeartMedia alt scene, so maybe I'm wrong.

Cage probably wouldn't be a third, was moreso just using it as an example that they likely can't release the lineup without Rage/whoever on it.

I mean sure but that's a worst case you sent. Pretend it's 2018:
@#()(@)!*# • Arctic Monkeys • Kendrick Lamar • The Killers
That would make people freak and get excited. And that year had a Rage-level #1.
I think theres a decent chance the Rage confirmation might come today, and they might release all their dates today then let the festivals announce tomorrow

Was there a time it was to be announced? I see Boston Calling is 10AM. Gotta think it's a Rage looped thing. I can't even fathom the disappointment if it's anything else, unless it's another big name like the Boss.
