Haven't yet gotten to Grimes or King Krule but can happily report that the (first half of the) new Moses Sumney is absolutely gorgeous. Trying not to act too biased since I just drafted him in the Bonnaroo draft, but it might be my favorite of the year thus far

Am still bitter you snagged him - that is definitely one of my biggest regrets, not just deciding to take him sooner, before you did!
Have you seen him live? He's like, a beautiful talented alien creature <3
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

I've seen him at Pitchfork 2016, opening for James Blake, and at Homecoming 2018: each show was a noticeable step up from the last time! I'm sure whatever he has cooking for the next touring cycle will be just unreal

I first saw him opening for Sufjan on the C&L tour....and I was like "wait, who is this musician that is actually capturing my attention even though I am on the edge of my seat waiting for Sufjan to come on?"
Forgot you were at Homecoming 2018 too, duh! Yes. That show was beautiful, right at twilight.

I was lucky enough to be in LA last weekend to catch Moses Sumney's installation where they played the album, and have been patiently waiting for it to come to streaming services. Strong contender for AOTY.
Ditto for me here...Really been enjoying this release thus far, especially the songs Idoru, So Heavy I Fell Through the Earth, New Gods, and My Name Is Dark.
Also Tame Impala's has been growing on me this past week. Still not as strong as Kevin's first two albums, but I'm digging it overall.
In the batter's circle for me is Sumney's album, Greg Dulli's first proper solo album (Random Desire), and some of the recommendations u guys have given (Godthrymm, Eris Drew, etc.)

Although stylistically different, I feel like you'd like Beach Bunny, Bambara, and Lonker See's recent outputs too.
February is much stronger compared to January this year - and it looks like it's gonna get even better.

Well right now Moses Sumney has my vote but it's also not the whole album so I'm not sure if I should vote for it now or potentially vote for it when the whole thing comes out
Moses Sumney seems to be the winner for me, but seeing basically no press coverage, it might be better to consider it for May when the whole thing is out.
I'm waiting for the second half of Græ to come out before listening. Aromanticism was wonderful and I really want to hear it all in one listen.
Also I've listened to AAL several times now and while it's good, I think it's a good step behind 2012-2017 and I'm surprised some are calling it an AOTY contender.
5.5/four tet, daphni b2b floating points, avalon emerson 5.12/neil young 5.19/mannequin pussy 5.21/serpentwithfeet 5.25/hozier 6.12-16/bonnaroo 6.28/goose 6.29/goose 9.17/the national + the war on drugs 9.23/sigur ros 9.27-29/making time 10.17/air
I thought grae was good but is getting overrated a lil. Also why would he release it now if he didn’t intend for people to listen to part 1 on its own?

I also agree with you on this...Upon repeated listening, it's still a great album, but I don't think 2017-2019 is as strong and cohesive of a work as 2012-2017.
Royce’s new album is really good. His lyrical ability is always great, but I feel like he really stepped up the production on this one.
Probably the front runner for me in Feb, although it wasn't a month with an abundance great albums imo. I personally thought the production took a step back compared to his last two albums but I knew as soon as I heard it that it would probably appeal a lot more to today's rap fans. Guess I'm old school when it comes to prefer beats/production style. Still solid album overall tho. And yeah, lyrical ability is always top notch.
