It's been years since I was in a pit for Tool. Opinion from Tool fans? Pit - Crowd - or VIP hill? Tool usually has an amazing light show and I feel like it is missed being really close. Also Maynard mumbles a lot and is hard to understand depending on the venue. But being that close to see Adam and Justin shred and Danny freaking out would be amazing.
right behind pit would probably be ideal. i'm curious if pit is too close or not. i think it would be perfect though, we were in pit for post last year and had a great view of the full stage. wouldn't disappoint
Fear of Music - I Zimbra, Mind, Paper, Cities, Life During Wartime, Memories Can't Wait, Air, Heaven, Animals, Electric Guitar, D*ugs
77 - Uh-Oh, Love Comes to Town; New Feeling; Tentative Decisions; Happy Day; Who Is It; No Compassion; The Book I Read; Don't Worry About the Government; Firest Week/Last Week...Carefree; Psycho Killer; Pulled Up
^^ I don't even know if I listened to 77 since college (would have been sometime in 83 or 84) so like 36 years. I had a roommate who was a heads fiend. I always liked FoM best, but you reminded me I forgot More Songs About Buildings and Food which I also haven't listened to in forever

i mean, definitely pit for the optimum experience. to be that close for such an intense act, surrounded by other fans, with the music super duper loud. you'll walk away from that changed.
but you are correct about the light show. the show would certainly be enjoyable from the VIP hill or What field as well.

Definitely pit. Radiohead, Bon Iver, and LCD were three of the best shows I've ever seen at a fest, and the pit definitely made the difference. The older I get the less patience and tolerance I have with talkers.
No it's not close. Tipper is the electronic class of the lineup.
Mmmhmm.
Not looking to fight, but seriously? He is the class of the EDM lineup. Some people might argue Bassnectar, but the negative group think about him on here wouldn't let it pass. As someone who has seen just about all the main people on here, that's what I'm offering. You already know I have no like for pop shit that a lot of y'all do like, though that's not where I'd put Yaeji. I had a conflict last time I wanted to see her. If you disagree, how about putting what you think out there instead?

SO GLAD WE ARE IN THE PIT RIGHT. HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU SEEN TOOL. DID YOU KNOW DANNY CAREY IS INTO BLACK MAGIC. THAT SHIT IS REAL MAN. FIBONACCI AND ANTON LEVY WERE FRIENDS. THERE WAS THIS ROCKET ENGINEER NAMED JACK PARSONS WHO WAS ALL INTO SATAN AND MATHEMATICS. PARABOLA IS ABOUT HIM IT'S PRETTY COOL. IT ALL MAKES SENSE YOU JUST HAVE TO CONNECT THE DOTS YOU KNOW. SO WHERE ARE YOU GUYS FROM. WHERE ARE YOU CAMPED AT. DO YOU WANT TO COME BY MY CAMPSITE LATER. WE COULD PRACTICE BLACK MATHEMATICS.

Yaeji is enjoyable even without doing copious amounts of ketamine.
She's still on my list of acts I've been missing that y'all recommended (Fozzie I think is a big proponent last time). I don't do any of that shit so it's a mystery to me how it would go over.

I'd like to offer a moment of appreciation for all the basic lineup fodder Roo didn't book. No Bleachers or Grouplove or Matt & Kim or CHVRCHES or Greta van Fleet or Local Natives or Logic or Tycho. The hip-hop may not be plentiful this year, but it's decent. Lizzo, JID, Denzel Curry, DaBaby, slowthai, SAINt JHN, Young Thug, a Country Grammar set by Nelly. I could see myself at any of those sets so as far as hip-hop names I recognize go, Roo is 8 for 8.
I do agree on most of the top part, but I'd see Tycho (especially the projection mapped stage they're doing at Mulberry) or CHVRCHES any time. Also just caught GVF 2 Fridays ago, and I was pretty surprised how good that show was. I saw them last year at ACL which was okay, but this was a step up in class. I didn't want to believe it either.
I kind of agree on the hiphop/rap but not completely.
Kevin Gates - Sometimes is great, sometimes is not
Denzel is one of my favorite rappers (just put some shit out on a mixtape yesterday but I haven't listened to all of it).
J.I.D have met and seen and was a great show when I saw himi
DaBaby - as noted before, one of the more annoying rap shows I've seen in a long, long time
slowthai - heard he was eh a couple weeks back at the Brockhampton show I didn't go to
SAINt JHN - Saw him a couple of years ago and damnit if he couldn't stop talking about silk shirts. Not as annoying as DaBaby, but annoying.
Young Thug - Who even knows if he's going to show up? He's an enigma person and unreliable. He failed to show the one time I tried to see him.
Country Grammar - Probably will be a pretty entertaining Nelly show. I don't really care about Nelly, but I'll probably be there
99 Neighbors - as has been noted by several of us, bargain bin Brockhampton (or maybe Brockhampton is bargain bin them) from Burlington, VT
Haha different strokes then - Tycho might be the single most boring show I've seen, and CHVRCHES is literally my least favorite band. Glad you had a good time at JID, I've been wanting to catch him for a bit. Same with Denzel. I'll have to check out Kevin Gates and 99 Neighbors, not too familiar with them.
I'm not particularly interested in Flogging Molly, but I've at least heard of them. Who is Seven Lions and why are they in color
Your favorite search engine would probably have told you he was a DJ that's been around for 10 years and played most of the major festivals during that time.

lmao. This is hilarious. I should have clarified. The pit makes the difference because I've never had an issue with talking or screaming there (including first few rows at any fest), whereas I've had experiences almost ruined by people screaming in my ears at shows (mainly at BC and Mo Pop), being in the middle or back of shows I cared about, when I had a lot of running around to do at a fest. Not some much on What at Roo, but definitely at Which (the xx comes to mind, but there are more). Lmao. This tangent I hilarious though and probably sounded like me (after) some Tool show someone. "We could do Black Mathematics"

isn't the hill off center? they're best enjoyed straight on

i'm not going to say Kevin Gates will change your life or anything but "Really Really" bangs so hard. song has been stuck in my head for three years.
