I'd heard from two different people yesterday that the hold up is absolutely the pickle they are in over vaccination checks. Artists want them, Tennessee politicians don't. Some artists will literally not show up unless some safeguards are in place.

Personally, my favorite pickle is Grillo's hot pickles.
Grillo pickles are amazing. They don't sell them around me anymore
Not sure if this changes things, but I used to work for Whole Foods and we had them in every store across the country. Also, if you'll be at brunch, I can bring some.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

I feel like saying Vaccine card OR NEGATIVE TEST is the way around it? It allows people to still have their "choice" and be able to attend. While still putting some kind of safeguards in place. Why are politicians really that fucking dumb
I get that there will be a large number of people upset about a vax requirement, but (responsible, vaccinated) people are going to be even more outraged if we're surprised with a butchered lineup due to no requirements. Surely Bonnaroo wouldn't go that route.

these are such a pain to stock at work. They’re very oddly shaped compared to everything else and are at the very top.

Bonnaroo is always going to choose the option that gets them more money. They are already sold out and turning people away at the gates means they likely have to refund them and get less sales from food, vendors, etc.

All they have to do is something like "you need to provide evidence of vaccination, or a negative test, or you'll be required to wear a mask" and they'd be pretty safe from refunds. They are free to set those terms, and they wouldn't be barring anyone at all from attending.

pretty sure the artists would see right through that though and still pull out

Enforcing that in the crowd would obviously be impossible, but vendors could refuse to sell to someone not in a mask, or that doesn’t have proof of vaccination attached to their wristband. Then those who do have it could even upload it ahead of time, making getting through the gates a more simplified process.

okay but there’s also the long-term image of the festival that imo would take a serious hit if they kowtowed to politicians and major artists dropped out over it

I definitely get that side of it, but let's say hypothetically that Foo Fighters, RTJ, Jason Isbell, and Sylvan Esso at minimum all say they won't play without requirements. I just don't see Roo putting out that lineup. Nearly every single person who has a ticket would be furious. I could see more major artists than that being in that boat at this point.

i wasn't commenting on anything the artists could/would do, just the idea of whether Bonnaroo would be in their right to require such things without exposing themselves to people demanding refunds

All this breathless speculation and poorly sourced rumor from the board’s least reliable posters would be kind of hilarious if it wasn’t all Covid related.
