Gotta look harder at the lineups, but the ones I liked the most were Coachella and Bonnaroo. Jazz Fest is up there too. Most all lineups have some cool shit either at the top or in the card.
- Coachella and Primavera go back and forth for me honestly, Prima has the better undercard but Rage & Frank) - I like how All Points East is trending. Full lineup not announced yet. Looking like a grower - Hangout and Firefly are both truly quacking awful. One good headliner will not save either from the shiz tier - I feel like Prima LA and Glastonbury will end up in the higher to top tier. Will be edited later

Wow, I guess I'm really in the minority of people who think Coachella's lineup is trash. I'll have to go through them all again before ranking them but I definitely won't have Coachella in the top tier.

I don't love or even like a lot of it but it’s deep. I’ll have 2 channels going on that broadcast.

It's interesting to me that you're the only one who mentioned Jazz Fest. I get that it's b/c you're in NOLA but it's 51 years old and does 8 days and around 450K people. Maybe b/c their target demo is older than the festival is why.
Looking at yesterday's announces, BC really blew all the cash on the top line and left the rest of the show to die.
Honestly I'd rank Hangout over Boston Calling. I can't seem to get into Rage and FF/RHCP do zilch for me. Hangout's got some cheese on it with Mello but you could do a lot worse than RL Grime and Madeon as far as Hangout-esque electronic goes. There are some good acts in BC's undercard but it's such a sharp drop-off after the top line that if you're not into the headliners, it gets hard to justify real quick.

Bonnaroo/Coachella/Osheaga/JF seem tops to me.
It's the lineup and the aftershows so far. I'll see more high-level talented musicians those weekends and weekend nights than I'm likely to see at Bonnaroo, ACL, Buku and Voodoo combined. Besides age, it's a matter of taste and what people like. Lots of people like a lot of different fests that I am indifferent on. I probably wouldn't go to III Points this year after liking some previous years' lineups much more. It's not that there aren't acts I like, will see around that time and have seen before. But it doesn't do anything for me on the whole. Hangout has a couple of cool acts, but I'd put that at the bottom. Movement Detroit has lots of fans. I hope they all have a great time there. I wouldn't go, but that's on taste. On the other end of EDM, I wouldn't go to any of the mega fests like Ultra or EDC as I don't listen to almost any of that. The other fests hold some interest to me different than a lot of people who post on the forum. I'm not going to hate on them because I'm sure I could probably make fun days out of almost any multi-genre festival. Some festivals have days I really don't care about.
Jazz fest would be a lot cooler if they just scheduled all the popular acts staggered. i get needed to have JAZZ! at all hours of the day, but when you put 3 or the top 5 people on at the same time it really kills the overall thing for me.

No question about it. Some days you can't really count the whole lineup because you'd almost not be able to see even a piece of all the acts. The first Sunday will have Foo Fighters vs. Brandi Carlile vs. Erykah Badu vs. Buddy Guy vs. Norah Jones to close. Second Saturday would be Dead & Co. vs. Lizzo vs. Isley Brothers vs. Keb Mo vs. Legendary Count Basie Orchestra. So I completely understand and agree with what you're saying. It ends at 7pm unlike just about everything else, and usually that's when shit starts getting good on out to until 5/6am. Gonna fill a few more grey hairs and circles under my eyes with the way things are looking this year.

Objectively Coachella is deep af and has a lot of good music
But fully a third of the lineup is DJs which just don’t interest me as live shows, and another solid chunk of it are rap acts like lil uzi, Travis Scott, etc, that while I enjoy their music, aren’t compelling live acts
So for me Bonnaroo has the best overall major lineup this year
Every year, I make a list of 25-30 acts I want to see at festivals. Every year, the lineups drop, and stuff I want to see is spread all over the place. I'm left a little disappointed because I want to see my picks all in one or two places. I want to see acts that I haven't seen, but I also want to see favorites that I HAVE seen.
I'm starting to think the problem is...me. Anyone else feel that way?
I finally got to look over a bunch of lineups I hadn't looked at hard enough before. I'm not individually ranking because almost none of them is really like the other.
The Best
Coachella - This one is weird to me because it probably the most acts I've ever seen on a lineup that I don't want to see. But it's got so much shit else that I do that I like it a ton and will geek out weekend #1 to the broadcast.
Bonnaroo - Less things (though still plenty) that I don't want to see, but lots of great stuff that I do even if I've already seen most of it. If every day there was Friday, it would be up there with the all times - at least recent years' festivals. I have my ticket.
Jazz Fest - The actual musical talent on this lineup pretty much dwarfs about every other festival. But it's 8 days, has genres that most other festivals don't touch (gospel, zydeco, blues, jazz, etc.) and is way more about the night shows. I usually go 2 or 3 actual festival days and 6 or 7 nights and overnights worth of sets. This year I'll be at the festival 4 different days to see The Who, Foo Fighters, Wu Tang Clan w/ Soul Rebels and Dead & Company. With aftershows of Umphrey's, Disco Biscuits, Turkuaz w/ Jerry & Adrian, Tractorbeam and Doom Flamingo in hand already and several more nights to fill in, it should be a happy 2 weekends.
Very Good (aka apparently I heart Jam Festivals)
The Peach - This is stacked with ultra talented musicians but is obviously heavy on jam acts. Oysterhead, String Cheese x2, Billy & The Kids, Umphrey's, moe., MSM&W, Pigeons, Oteil and Friends, Turkuaz w/ Adrian & Jerry, Billy Strings, Steel Pulse, Spafford, Ghost Light, etc.
Camp Bisco - *edit to correct for 2020* - 6 Sets of Disco Biscuits, Shphongle Live w/ TDB, Tipper x2, Lotus, Break Science, Dopapod, Perpetual Groove, Tauk...
Summer Camp - 3 days of moe. and 3 days of Umphrey's along with STS9, Tipper, Wood Brothers, Pigeons, Emancipator, CloZee, Lettuce, Break Science, Spafford, Sunsquabi, The New Deal, Werks. They still have more TBA.
The Good
Shaky Knees - I'm not that into Indie rock and don't really care that much about the headliners though I'd probably see at least part of each one. I like several of the undercard acts here including Black Pistol Fire, All them Witches, Royal Blood & KG&TLW
Lock'n - Not my favorite lineup since I started following them and watching their festival on tv. But it's Phil's 80th fucking birthday. Probably a lot of us won't see 80, so good for Phil and happy birthday. I'll be tuned in for a lot of the broadcast if Ben & Jerry's picks it up again.
Sweetwater - Lots to like on this one though I've seen about everyon eon the Top 2 lines (plus the next couple)
The average/eh
Okeechobee - I don't really like the headliners or a lot of the higher billed acts except Bassnectar. I'd have a lot of schedule gaps on some of the days. However Lotus alone makes this worth something considering their actual musical talent. Tipper is there along with Ghostland Observatory, Flatbush Zombies, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, G. Jones, Bob Moses and Cory Wong.
Boston Calling - Headliners are pretty good. I like a couple acts each day though I don't really care much for very much of Sunday.
Bottlerock - There are some acts I like (Brandi, Janelle, Eric B. & Rakim, Ra Ra Riot, Z-Trip and Anderson.PAAK & TFN and Turkuaz w/ Adrian & Jerry. But they have Village People, Khalid, Empire of the Sun, Jack Harlow, Zedd, Maren Morris and so much that I don't like that it's balanced there.
Buku Fest - I'll be at this and will have fun. You can focus your days on R&B, rap, harder styles, house or edge pop. Friday isn't that big for me. I'll see $B, Flatbush Zombies, Mr. Carmack, VOYD, Space Jesus, the Trifinity and otherwise just walk around. Saturday though is pretty cool - CloZee, Gramatik, JPEGMAFIA, Turnstile, Kompany b2b Calcium, Megan, Pussy Riot, RTJ and Tyler should make for a fairly hypeD day. I wouldn't travel for it, but I'll have a good time.
Governor's Ball - Some cool upper and upper-mid acts, but generally no thank you to acts like Flume, Vampire Weekend, Bleachers, Maren Morris, Gryffin, Pink Sweats.
Suwanee Rising - Small Festival but some pretty cool shit on it for the people who live close.
Don't like
Hangout Fest - It will have been 5 years since I last went. There is no reason to go back. When Cage the Elephant, Head & Heart, Megan Thee Stallion, Moon Taxi are the better acts and your festival isn't a local 5,000-15,000 person fest, you probably suck. Yeah, they have the Red Hots. Flea is very talented, but they haven't released anything I cared about in a couple of decades.
Personally Indifferent or Not Interested
Lightning in a Bottle - There are some pretty okay acts Friday and Saturday.
III Points - There are some good acts on this, but otherwise there is barely anything I want to listen to or see on the lineup. It is neither as good as it was advertised to be or as interesting or good as prior lineups were. To each their own, and I hope people who go enjoy themselves.
Ubbi Dubbi - I like maybe a handful of the acts on this and dislike the wimp pop and pap on it.
Ultra - Certainly has some big names that I'd see and many more I don't ever want to see or hear again.
EDC Las Vegas - Some okay stuff, lots of IDGAF. There are a couple of unique sets they worked into it. For every A$AP Rocky, Barely Alive or Infected Mushroom, there are several more Loud Luxury's, Valentino Khan's, Cash Cash's and such.
Movement Detroit - There are a few acts I like and way more that do nothing for me many of whom I have seen. More power to people into the various house and techno worlds who will likely get a lot out of this.
To Be Determined - Beale Street, Newport Folk Fest, Backwoods at Mulberry (all partial lineups out)
