I first and foremost care about how much I like the lineup, but it does matter to me if I can imagine it as a Bonnaroo lineup (minus the other stage). And I mean that pretty loosely, but some of the draft strategies are just... not in the spirit of the game imo.
Are there 3 Bonnaroo headliners, 3 pre headliners, 3 which closers, 2 LN Which acts? Would the lineup sink the festival because there is nothing popular on it?
ive explained myself before, and ill explain myself again. I suspect ill have to do it next game as well.
The very first game I didn't book a Bonnaroo lineup, and I came in 2nd, (Most votes in the 1st round of voting also) The next game I tried to book a Bonnaroo lineup, and it sucked and I deservedly got booted in the 1st round. Infinity Draft I made as little use of "Infinity" as possible, and I won. Last game I got even smaller and nicher with it then I intended, and it got me to the 2nd round, past a few lineups that looked a lot more like "Bonnaroo" lineups.
You may have some "spirit of the game" conventions in your head, but I sure as fuck don't and am going to keep playing to my advantages bc it works better for me and I have a better time
if making a dope Bonnaroo lineup is your goal, sweet, but from the very beginning of this its never been some known thing that we have to adhere to the general constraints of Bonnaroo.
Ah, the age old question. Is it ok to pick someone just bc they’re female or is it better to pick based on preference/talent in an industry dominated by men.
I mean, it's all still music that I like. Taylor Swift isn't on my list.

I think they count something like LCD Soundsystem as... female. BEcause there is a female in the group.
No, that'd be mixed. Also picking a female act just because they're female... is kinda sexist, no?
lol what
I'd love to hear your thoughts on reverse racism too? (spoiler: it doesn't exist) It isn't like he's pandering to these female acts, when he's choosing picks he genuinely likes who are genuinely talented.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

1. Your past results mean absolutely nothing. I'm not claiming that everyone votes like I do. Most probably don't.
2. My "conventions" are based on the first line in the rules.
3. Of course you have a better time. It's way easier with less layers and strategy involved.
Again, it's obviously ok for you to play how you'd like, and you will perform well with voting like you always do. You don't have to explain anything to me though I do expect you to combat what I'm saying for the voters sake. I'm aware of all that. Cdev has also more or less backed my stance on this in the past, and I think the majority of the rest of the group has backed yours. I just wish there was a better understanding so we could all be playing the same game.

Reverse racism doesn't exist, idk what you're implying here?
How'd you feel as if you were a musician and were booked to play a festival.. And the only reason that they booked you is because you don't have a peepee. That's sexist and not the reason how festivals should be booked. I'm not implying that sang would do that or is doing that, I just asked the question.. I'm all up for more gender equity on festival line ups and I think using quota as a means to close that gap is rather forced yet effective but I'm not gonna select Rihanna just because she's a female artist. I'm selecting her because she's dope as fuck and multiple other reasons.

I'm doing it because this is for fun and I'd definitely go to a fest like that.

I agree.
Why do people only make this distinction for women though? Obviously people are only going to draft people that they like. Do you really think anyone is going to draft an act that they don't like at all only because that act is female?

I've seen people pick shit they don't even know but know other people might like.

I get where you’re comin from, i really do. I just don’t think that’s feasible with a board (with extremely diverse tastes and opinions) like inforoo, trying to emulate a fest (that has such a wide range of genres and qualitiy in its lineups) like Bonnaroo. Maybe it’d be possible if we were all doing a Jam Fest or an Electronic Fest or something like that, but we’ve got what we’ve got.
also, I giggled at the no strategy dig. I promise you, there was strategy in trading Oasis and 5 picks for NiN

There could probably be a way to do it where we all designated a grouping of acts that could land on various stages and made it to where everyone had to have a certain amount acts of a certain size.
*Less strategy. Because it's usually the case that bigger acts that could actually headline Bonnaroo / Coachella / ACL / Lolla are more polarizing. So if you just skip straight to drafting Sigur Ros in the second as I just did... without plans to draft headliners, there is basically no sacrifice being made. You just get to draft all your favorite stuff. I'm very aware that a lot of people do that, but we are just playing two different games. It's fine. I really, really enjoy doing this, but I think there is room for improvement by Cdev either eliminating that first line in the OP or by everyone trying to draft a lineup that would exist on the farm, move at least 65,000 tickets and appeal to inforoo.

I've drafted stuff that I don't necessarily love for the sake of genre diversity and making my lineups a little more like a real multi-genre festival like Bonnaroo.
I added Miranda Lambert as a FA one time just because I thought it made a lot of sense for Roo to have a big female country star in the second line if the lineup was gonna be stacked, as they are in these drafts. I probably couldn't name a single one of her songs, but I was happy with that. I also added Shakira, who I do like. I don't imagine either really garnered me any votes, but I do these lineups for myself mostly and I just thought that was cool. Lots of other examples of that, too. I tried to and got pretty close to a 50/50 male/female split in the first Infinity Draft, for example.

I think we could do one just with acts that have actually played Bonnaroo.
