It's basically rule 15. When I proposed that rule, I meant for it to go both ways. Once the draft starts, no act can be eligible or ineligible. There's no point in fucking up someone's entire draft out of something that they can't control and has absolutely nothing to do with skill or the purpose of the game.

There's plenty you can't control. Every festival encounters it at some points. Deaths, breakups, artists getting cancelled.
If Roger Waters dies, he’s still eligible. The same way that if Led Zeppelin got back together, you couldn’t draft them. It’s just not fair to whoever had them.

i couldn't disagree more. if theres any aspect of the "fantasy" part of our game that we should be able to indulge in, it's this one.
if i were a new player like Nathan or Theo, and i took Waters or Gilmour and built my entire draft around that being my #1, and then was told I was just fucked and had to take someone like RHCP to fill my void at #1, i'd honestly probably rage quit.

Then you could also make the argument that we should account for touring schedules. Tyler and Dead are both busy during my fest but I don't account for that. Nor do I account for permits, venue, budget, etc. The point of the game is to curate a good lineup with good trade skills and drafting ability. The logistical stuff isn't apart of the game.

Then you would be behaving really childishly.
i agree it would be a childish thing to do, but it just isn't a situation we should put anyone in in the first place.

and even if i (in this hypothetical situation that i was a player that wasn't as committed as i really am) didn't rage quit it would likely discourage me from ever coming back and trying again, which we also don't want
in a nutshell, if the main vocalist is still kicking, things should be ok. it's shitty that it's the way it is some times, but for the most part instruments can be replaced. also large clocks.

Actually this would be kinda cool. Just literally make the best lineup possible, you can pick whatever headliners. There'd be a lot of overlap but it would push people to create something interesting instead of just making the top line Radiohead - Waters - McCartney

i think the auction thing is just hard in this format. if we did it fast(er) in a chat it shouldn't be too hard.

I was thinking that something like this or a boutique festival lineup draft could be cool. Reduce pick amounts and free agents or just do a full draft without free agents for the small festival.

Maybe we could something where you can only have one act from each round of this draft. So you wouldn’t have crazy top lines but rather Radiohead - Jay Z - Arcade Fire - MMJ for example
After next year we'll have twenty Bonnaroo lineups. We could do one where you can only draft artists from Bonnaroo lineups. The catch is that you have to bill them where they were billed on whichever lineup you pick from.
