Here's how I see it. The Pats lost a ton of big names this offseason and needed to rebuild anyway. The Bills are likely the favorites to win the division. The Pats might have a chance at a Wild Card, and just hope to avoid KC or Baltimore.
If Stidham isn't good and the Pats go 4-12, how much better would Dalton have been? Last thing you want is Dalton on a one year deal and he goes like 8-8, that brings nothing for our future.

Great observation. Bill is too smart to go 8-8. I think this fanbase can weather a tank year if they know it's coming and can see the benefit. Look at those down years for the Celtics. They built likeable losing teams that were worth watching but you knew the future was extremely bright through the draft. And who knows, might be actually possible to afford tickets for the first time in 20 years.
Dalton to Dallas 1yr/$7 million. Feels like Jones is telling Dak to calm the fuck down with salary demands.
Eh definitely hold out insurance I guess, but a lot is invested in the offense. If dak got hurt they'd have been fucked so I think it's smart.
Oh yeah. I think it's a smart move on both sides. If Dak gets hurt, Dalton is going into a great situation as a backup with how good their offense is. If Dalton looks good, Jones has more leverage with Dak or a replacement if Dak turns hostile. If he looks like ass, they drop him after the end of the season.
The pats offense is pretty bad. Stidham wasn't exactly a highly regarded pick and he looked like ass in his only action this season. They'll probably end up with a top five pick

As someone who watches a ton of SEC play, I am going to be very impressed if they turn Stidham into a franchise quarterback. Just never saw the upside they're apparently seeing.
Schedule is being released in 2 days. Obviously no one knows what's going to happen or whether there will be a season at all. But the Saints should again be one of the main prime time teams. You could see at least 1 of the Saints vs. Bucs games in prime time since it's the obvious Brees vs. Brady story line. Last couple of years, Saints and Falcons have played on Thanksgiving night to the highest ratings of the day. So if we get one Bucs game and one Falcons game in prime time, here are some other options:
Note: We play the AFC West and NFC North this season plus a 1st Place [tm] schedule:
Kansas City Chiefs (home game) Green Bay Packers (home game) San Francisco 49ers (home game) Philadelphia Eagles (away game) Minnesota Vikings (home game)
While any of those games are prime time or game of the week (3:20pm) options, expect 2 or 3 of them to be night games. That would give us about 5 on the year which is probably about par for us.

In addition to announcing the schedule, the league cancelled all four London games for next year. I don't remember the four games but I think the Jags had a home game over there planned (same as past few years), so Jake Jortles gets one more game without going across the pond (though I think he went last year).
Election year, so the AFC North plays NFC East (I remember this because of the stupid stat about the last Washington home game before the election) and AFC South, plus a second place schedule that gives them the Bills and Broncos, two games that looked better (for wins) a few months ago.
Jags had two London games this year, which were moved back to Duuuuuuval.
lol yeah we spent like two months selling London sponsorships and working on replacement value for all of our partners that were losing a home game worth of value in Jax. Oh well. If we by some miracle have fans in the stands for 8 full games, Jacksonville will be lit.
I still wonder how it will go. I have to assume the Suites will be fine? Could we create triple the amount of entrances and leave 2 seats between each person?
It's schedule day. Week #1 is Brees vs. Brady. Christmas Day is Saints vs. Vikings. We have donated Pizzas to Chicago and Detroit, cheesesteaks to Philadelphia and sent 283 meals to Atlanta. haha Pwnd.
The Saints purchased pizza in Detroit from Michigan&Trumbull for workers at Honey Bee Market, a grocery store in Southwest Detroit.
In Chicago, the Saints bought pizza from Pequod's Pizza of Chicago and delivered it to Swedish Covenant Hospital.
In Philadelphia, the Saints purchased Philly cheesesteaks from Joe's Steaks + Soda Shop for workers at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children.
And in Atlanta, the Saints bought turkey spaghetti from Kelz Kitchen and delivered it to police officers working in Zone 5 of the Atlanta Police Department.
This is a pretty great video if you have 2 minutes.
The Patriots have three road games scheduled against west coast teams. At least the LA games are back to back, Sunday and Thursday, so it only requires two trips cross country. (The other is at Seattle.)
Pwnd. A lot of times when we have back to back west coast games we will stay over. Since it’s sunday and Thursday watch Coach post y’all up in like Santa Barbara for 6 or so days.
As predicted, we will have a bunch of games of the week and prime time matchups. We are good as fuck. But last few years you’ve needed a bye week to win it all. We came close last year at 13-3 but it wasn’t enough. We aren’t winning the first round bye because we have too many big games. I could see us getting 11-5 or even 12-4, but what does that mean? 3rd seed? Anyway, here are the big’uns:
Week 1 - gotw vs Bucs Week 2 - MNF @ Raiders Week 3 - SNF vs Packers Week 5 - MNF vs Chargers Week 8 - gotw @ Bears Week 9 - SNF @ Bucs Week 10- gotw vs 49ers Week 14- gotw @ Philly Week 15- gotw vs Kansas City Week 16- Friday/xmas vs Vikings
Haha. I’ll talk shit for the Saints any day. But when you have 10 major games like that, you’re not hitting them all. Who knows if they even have games. I’d be excited for the completion and Brees’ last year adding to so many records. But I don’t see us getting that 1 seed which odds say means we ain’t getting a Lombard.
Yeah I mean the option of spending the first 2 weeks or so of December in Southern California has to have major appeal for any team. Plus you have to figure Patriots fans will make that 5 day trip. That stadium is going to be something plus it never sucks being in L.A. or at least never sucked for me. That’s kind of a road game trip of a lifetime opportunity.

If this were a normal year yeah that'd be awesome.

esteban, I appreciate your always impassioned, unadulterated, and certainly biased commentary on the Saints, but I don't think any reasonable person would call the Saints Bears game Week 8 the game of the week. I get why you put the Raiders and Chargers there, even though MNF has sucked since it went to ESPN, but the Bears? Game of the week that week is probably 9ers Seahawks, at least what we would say in May.

3:25 games are games of the week unless they changed the formatting of the schedule this year . 3:05 games are afternoon games (such as the Saints at Denver mid-season). When you have the 3:25 (CDT obviously) it's the Game of the Week or I suppose America's Game of the Week if it's on Fox. What I was talking about in that abbreviation (gotw) are the nationally televised games which aren't in prime time.

Niners-Seabags is at the same time. I assume some flexibility for FOX but right now I think the NFC West battle would be GOTW, but I know what you mean.

I think the schedule broke well for the Steelers here. NFC North/AFC South games.
- Open at the Giants: new coach, should be tough in Week 1 due to pandemic, so teams with coaching continuity will benefit - @ Ravens is a Sunday 1pm game; Ravens at Steelers is Thanksgiving night game, that will be hype - @ JAX the Sunday before Thanksgiving, maybe I'll make a trip and tailgate with Jake Jortles if he lets me - tough game @ Buffalo in December on Sunday night football, that'll be fun with #BillsMafia @cedevaney - drawing the Colts at home in late December - old QB, dome team, cold weather... - four primetime games - two Monday nighters, one Sunday night, Thanksgiving night, plus @ Cowboys will certainly be the national broadcast at 4:25 - five games against teams with new head coaches (Giants/Washington/Cowboys/Browns x2)
I don't think we're going to be that bad. We just made moves that imo took us from possibly contending to being content with 10-6 and leaving playoffs early. I don't think the Vikings sans diggs is going to be better than us with Cooks and Cobb and Fuller. And JJ was nothing last year so him being hurt doesn't matter too much.
Lol. Worst post in a while. We, at least, are at or about the top.
Saints is a fine choice but Garropolo is a known game manager and the Bucs got a middling QB and a broken down TE. No idea how they think either offense is better than the Cardinals w a young dynamic QB, Hopkins, Fitz and a solid run game.
