From the email: Live programming will begin each day just before sunset (hey it’s November, so that’s earlier than you think), accompanied by stage projections by Mad Alchemy and an array of video artists projecting along the beach. Sounds nice, doesn’t it? Wish we were there right now.
From the Press Enterprise story: “To go along with our nighttime theme, most of our art is going to be focused on lights and projections,” he said. “It’s going to be a feast for the senses,” he added.
Sounds to me like Mad Alchemy does the main stage light show and then maybe Bill Gazer and Zachary Rodell are doing light shows as art installations separate from the stage.

I mean we could ask Zach about what he is specifically doing but why spoil the surprise.
I mean since its going to be a lot less people its not surprising about the cost. If theh were allowed to do full cap im sure its 10 - 20% less. They gotta make their money somehow if at all.

you also have to consider you can see the entire lineup. $75 per day for a GA show with 8 bands isn't too bad. add on the art and everything and it seems OK to me.

THIS right here. Plus as Supre pointed out, it'll be a more limited capacity event than normal.
Even with Daze being on the more intimate side of things in a normal year (about 10K-15K per day?), it will probably end up at half that size or smaller.

yeah, this is definitely not anything close to PS, but I mean, a single show in Southern California is usually $40+. in fact TWOD are playing the Shrine in LA and those tickets are up to $100 + fees. things are expensive in California.

Who has corporate sponsorship behind them and who is a mom and pop operation. Primavera has always been incredible value for a ticket cause theyve embraced having so many financial backers over the years and great relationships with artists and agents to get things done. Its not as if DD isnt similar that way with talent but they didnt have a safety net to weather the storm of covid and then have the willingness to put all their chips on the table in 2022.

If we’re comparing value on a smaller scale 3 day then its Pitchfork vs DD. P4K comes out to close in price to what DD will be on the lowest tier for a 3 day. normally their 3 day tickets are around $150 plus fees so their increase is just the current environment. Single days are similar in cost since P4K ends up being an average of the DD price tiers. Which one is going full scale and which one is just doing their best to at least hold an event this year. Nobody thought they would be doing this til apparently it was out of the blue that Lake Perris let them know they could accomodate, so they scrambled. If DD had set out to do just this weekend from the get go this looks much different I think. They lost a lot of time whenever things changed, but you applaud the effort.
With the lack of conflicts and the quality of the lineup, I'm probably going to see just as many bands as I usually do. Worth the price for me. Really not all that expensive

For reference, interpol/car seat headrest/Japanese breakfast at red rocks 2 years ago was 50 bucks, about a 4 hour show. 3 days of shows like that is 150. 25 more a day for the beach and art displays and more bands doesn't really seem like much if you get on the early bird.

The drive for me is part of the fun because i go over the mountains, through Utah and Vegas, but as far as flying goes I used to fly to roo with a duffle and was pretty ok. Not having an ezup was the hardest part, but I usually had people there so it wasn't a big deal. Duffle fit my tent, pillow, sleeping pad, sleeping bag, sheet, and tarp. Gym bag had my clothes and toiletries.

And yes, in a more perfect world the cost for a 3-day pass would be like $175-200 with fees...
But sh*t keeps just getting more and more expensive (everywhere), and I imagine the cost of seeing just the War on Drugs alone is at least like $75-100.
WOD tickets for New York are $65 plus fees for GA floor, so DD doesn’t seem overpriced to me. I tend to think value is in the eye of the beholder on these things. I’ve paid what a rational person would likely consider exorbitant sums to see some artists, and I’ve only regretted it once.

Yeah, War on Drugs are asking $100 for a top ticket before fees. I still think itll correct itself eventually. As much as promoters are still cashing in despite the price hikes there has to be a breaking point.

I don't think anyone disagrees that this is pricy, usually this is a full multistage festival for the same price, but daze has also traditionally been one of the cheaper california festivals so it's not really that far off value wise.
