Some very healthy, active, no-known-preexisting-conditions folks are ending up in the ICU and even dying, whilst I've heard many anecdotal stories of people who are older or have multiple preexisting conditions displaying very mild cases, against the odds.
Such a crapshoot, it seems. (yes of course there still are populations being disproportionately affected, and these outliers don't change that, but I just feel like there have been more said outliers than was anticipated)
Not only those, but vox ran an article from a doctor today warning that at least some people can get it twice.
I just heard recently that a family friend or relative (can't remember specifically who) had caught it twice. Before then I had only seen random rumblings of it in news stories but that was the first time I heard about it with someone our family knew directly. I think they work as corrections officers so there's a high risk of exposure.
So yeah, it can get super hot here in SoCal, especially in the lower desert areas (where I live)...
We have an extreme heat advisory today through Monday - HIGHS between 118-120! Even though we don't get much humidity (outside 3-4 weeks in Aug-Sept), once the dry heat hits north of 110, it's fucking hell on earth.
Under normal circumstances my ass would be either in the mountains or the beaches in SD on weekends such as this...But instead we are hold up in our Air Conditioned sanctuaries...Killing the hours reading books, listening to our ever-expanding vinyl collection, and tossing back some brews.

Last week it was outside. Last night there was a chance of storms so we did it inside. I wore a mask. And of course the rain stayed away, because we were inside.
Next week I have to go to Pittsburgh for training for my new job, but they want us to carpool. They're paying for the rental and all but spending five hours in a car with two people I haven't met before sounds pretty awful on a good day, let alone during a pandemic. I don't think they'd have a problem at all with me driving myself out there and that's probably what I'll end up doing; I just hope I don't come across as aloof or disinterested in connecting with my coworkers. Kinda shitty that they're putting us in that position tbh.

It's a legit concern. We're discouraged from driving together, but if we do, everyone in the car is required to wear a mask at all times.

Florida hit its highest death count yet and a 20 percent positive rate, and our governor still does...absolutely nothing. Test results take several days—if not a week or longer—these days, so these numbers are likely delayed by a week or more. I can't believe it.
Question for others with anxiety and panic attacks. What are some of the things that you do to settle that anxiety bubble that forms in your gut? What do you do to quite the mind? And when you feel a panic attack coming on, is there anything that you do to help reduce it?
Since Kyle tested positive after quarantining for 14 days already, my anxiety has taken over almost completely. I have been having panic attacks randomly and often. It's always been bad, but not this bad and I open to suggestions.
The person I was around who had it got tested a week before me. We got our results the same day. So 12 vs 5 days.
Crazy.
Did I miss you posting your result? Are you okay?
Also I feel like if my test result was that late I'd want another test at the end of the 14 day quarantine anyway!
Hey, I'm fine thanks. It was negative.
She was planning on getting another test this week until it came Monday morning. That was through CVS too. It's supposedly a nationwide problem at the moment. It's just ridiculous.

So glad <3 Totally ridiculous. Someone on a local FB group was told she couldn't even get tested for almost 2 weeks, so she had to pay out of pocket for a "rapid" test, which has shitty accuracy.

Has anyone else watched Contagion recently? I thought it would freak me out, but really it just pissed me off how much more responsibly these fictional characters responded to their fictional disease! It was like watching a pandemic response pipe dream.
