I'd rather the kids under 12 start getting jabbed before I get my 3rd one, and I was a proponent of under 60s cutting the line to getting jabbed in March to reduce wasted vials.
There is PLENTY of vaccine in the US. Under 12 could get it, but the studies have to be finished first. You guys would be sick if you knew how many doses my previous employer destroy each day for lack of use.

I have been toying with a third shot as well - like, getting it in a couple weeks so immunogenesis would peak right when I'm getting to Bonnaroo. I made the mistake of telling my wife, though, and she's adamantly against the idea, since she follows mostly mainstream media around the pandemic (unlike my deep dive, medical journal-reading ass) and has seen articles in which the CDC is saying not to do it. I'm much more OK lying to the government than I am lying to her.

Be warned, there is a good chance your insurance won't cover it. And if the pharmacy finds out, they may show you the door.

I work around the insurance industry and while my company hasn't seen anybody try yet but my guess is they wouldn't cover it.
Watch karma bite those parents in the ass when they end up in the ICU under those same medical professionals!
What's gross is that these people are inherently indicating they want violence against medical professionals for having a scientifically backed opinion/factual statement at a hearing. They are not going to pay for these sins, their kids will, as they are unmasked and end up with longterm covid issues. Which these people will certainly then saddle on to their children as "you have to be stronger" "work through it" mentalities that could further injure them through their growth. It's all so fucking sad. The real victims are their kids

I'm done with this planet. I have to take my (then) 4 year old to this hospital for a surgery in a few weeks, and if these dingdongs are still out here protesting I will need all the Xanax in the world, because adding this layer to an already stressful situation will not be good. To protest at a hospital for children?! I hate this shit so much.
These dumb asses aren’t my people. As JHOinTN said, richest county in the state. The same shits that would stomp their foot and ask if I knew WHO they were when I wouldn’t fill their Xanax 2 mg 7 days early.

Just to be clear, I know they aren't your people per say. It's a turn of phrase in the black community that means go and get your brother/sister (people that look like you). that's why I threw in peoples. but I understand if that isn't a used term for you.
I'm more worried that there is a consensus of angry anti-science, right-leaning mostly affluent Americans who have no one checking them.

On the latest episode of Sam Harris’ Making Sense podcast, he likened this anti-establishment, anti-institution, anti-science movement to a fanatical religion where NOTHING you say or do to prove a fact even matters. And that’s scary.

Yeah I don't listen to Sam frequently but heard about that. Gave it a listen today and it's a hell of a takedown of the "just asking questions" crowd. Really good stuff.
I liked his analogy that they are like "we demand you retest water to make sure it's made up of two parts hydrogen one part oxygen". No dude we already did that.
All the better since it was directed at his former friend and now nutjob Bret Weinstein.

I think I can say this because I was a Manchester resident for ~8 years... as much as you might want to hug a local in Manchester when at Bonnaroo, you might consider refraining this time around. Tullahoma hospital's 8 Covid beds are currently full and is looking to expand.

With all these fucking dingdongs running around... Is it too cynical of me to think keeping people poorly educated is intentional? Or am I just late to this realization?

Just remember.. I was angry as fuck about 6-8 years back, seeing patterns that people didn't believe existed.
This type of mis-education doesn't develop overnight.

I recently got into him, and man these last two vaccine-related episodes have been illuminating. I really do fear for society when something as objectively bad as a virus, that holds no prejudice, motivation, ambition, goal, etc., becomes a partisan, political issue. For the next pandemic, especially a more lethal pandemic, we are royally fucked.
At some point we need to have a serious discussion about deradicalizing these people. We are already reaching a breaking point where things aren't sustainable with people acting like this.

If you figure out how, let me know and I will attend the next Williamson county mask mandate meeting. With a flak jacket, helmet, and blowtorch.

Remember when these same people are screaming that Black Lives Matter protestors are violent.

Can I blink unironically now?
Sadly, and unfortunately for the sake of all us who still have our sanity and logic, these people are a lost cause. Only something *severe/radical* that shakes the shit out of their way of thinking, forcing them to have a true paradigm shift, could potentially reset their heads in a positive manner.
I don't know what the extreme measure(s) would be, but we as a society can't go down without a fight...We can't have these bigots, cowards, anti-intellectual/science f*ckers drag us back into the Stone Age.

We had a protest outside our hospital last Thursday. We started mandating vaccines for employees last month (final due date in October) and while a majority are fine with it, there of course have been a small group who have lost their shit over it. The protest included at least 40 employees who took part, all of which I assume will be fired by October. I know of at least one ER employee who quit in protest and joined another hospital who wasn't requiring it... until they too put in a mandate last week Whoops, guess she'll have to find ANOTHER hospital to work at.

The company I work for has announced that all employees are required to be vaccinated or face termination. Other large employers have announced similar policies in the last couple days and more are expected in the days to come. I really hope we start seeing a lot of this play out:
