Idk where this idea that the weather matters came from? It’s summer here and there’ve been like 30+ cases reported in Sydney. It’s not winter everywhere, and it’s still spreading. 🤷🏻♀️

Some viruses are slowed by heat and humidity. That’s why they are seasonal. Covid-19 has shown no such indication, so far.
I receive the Tennessee health alert network updates since I’m a Pharmacist. There are several companies in various stages of testing a vaccine. Some are closer than others, but even at the earliest we are looking at 6 months to a year. Inovio seems to be the closest with their DNA based vaccine Ino-4800. They plan on starting human trials in April and have already started mass producing it.
Edit-their stock has soared but I don’t advise investing yet. Those trials could go haywire.

Hey, question, and you may not know this, but given your profession...any word on development of *treatment* for it? I know we're a long ways out from a vaccine, but there has been the occasional news story about remdesivir and other meds as ways to mitigate the symptoms/treat infection after it's happened. I'm curious if we might see a quicker turn-around on that than on a vaccine.

Yes. There are an equal number of companies investing in treatment. Gilead is making remdesivir. They are in phase-3 double-blind placebo trials right now.
On a side note, can you imagine being the poor sap that gets the placebo. What a thankless job.
And keep in mind that we currently have Tamiflu. An antiviral for the flu. You have to take it right away and it only shortens the duration and symptoms of flu slightly. It’s probably going to be the same scenario with remdesivir. But something is better than nothing.
Also keep in mind that the majority of the members on this music message board will not be physically affected by this virus. It goes after the boomers. So your stocks my tank, and you may lose you parents or grandparents. And it may be awhile before you get that new iPhone. But you are going to be fine.
I say this as one of the 1-3% that it will most definitely take out. Ok Boomers has an all new meaning now.
in all honesty i am at least considering not travelling for a while for this reason alone. not concerned about myself or my wife, but my parents are older, and i wouldn't want to be the one to infect them.
obviously i really really don't want to cancel any upcoming festival/show trips, but i'm going to continue to monitor the situation.
so far the biggest impact on our lives is they are out of Kirkland brand toilet paper at Costco, so we had to get some other brand. when i leave work i'm going to run by there to get some of those kirkland/kettle brand collab ruffle style chips, because if i'm going to be quarantined i need those chips to eat.
WTF is up with the toilet paper hoarding? How is that going to save your ass in this situation? People are crazy.
When the first case was found here in Nashville I was at work and I could just feel the fear spread though the store. I had to keep my techs and myself focused and level headed. Then some fucking idiot comes into our store, buys a pack of socks. Takes off his nasty socks and drops them in front of my pharmacy.
I pulled on a pair of gloves, picked them up, ran after him, said here are your socks , and handed them back to him.

I think the fear is that the supply chain will be disrupted, not that it’ll actually prevent anything. I don’t know if shortages are consistent everywhere - I went to Walmart yesterday to get some since I needed some anyway and there was plenty left, but all the disinfectant wipes were sold out. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

When I posted about it on Facebook, someone also pointed out that people may be stocking up in anticipation of limiting public contact if things get worse. Seemed like a fair point.
I know what you mean about needing stuff normally. I just wanna get some individual hand sanitizers because we're going to Disney. It's suddenly a hot item though. We'll see if the Walmart fails me shortly.

Your Walmart is probably not going to have hand sanitizer. IF they have 91% alcohol and aloe vera gel, then stock up. You can make your own.

I bought a bunch of Tito's then found out you can't use it for that. Guess I'll have to drink it.

PS Vodka is gross. Fight me.
Vodka is the most versatile spirit there is. Gross vodka is gross. Taaka level shit is a headache in a glass. But decent vodkas are usually neutral. Screwdrivers, bloody Mary’s, White Russians, vodka and pineapple, any martini or cosmo type drink ever. All those are pretty good, but I’m probably not drinking a Gibson. It mixes with almost any sweet or savory concoction, works with milks and creams, juices, and other liquors. So I wouldn’t give it gross. If you think shots of it are gross, try this: pour over ice, squeeze in some lime, shake, strain and shoot. It goes down about as easy as an almost straight shot can.
Was at CVS a while ago, they had TP but had zero thermometers and anti bacterial wipes.
Justin Bieber has ''downgraded'' the stadiums he booked on his tour to arenas because of the virus. Translation: his tour was selling shitty so this is an excuse.
This used to be more common. Parents would have their kids sleep in the same bed when one of them got something like chicken pox just to get it over with for the whole family. For literary reference read the The Great Brain series of books 😀
As someone that got the chickpox from my brother, when a friend's child got the chickpox, I tried to do the same to Kyle. I learned that he was vaccinated and that they don't do that anymore.

I have respiratory issues, I might not be fine. I have also had a "post nasal drip" for WEEKS. I did get prednisone though on Monday and have been better this week.
I worry about my mom, but my grandparents both died in 2012.
Crazy. I might go stand out on the corner. I got deez rollz, man.
As luck would have it, I was in need of some stuff like TP and hand soap. Stopped at Walmart and a supermarket tonight, and both had plenty of TP, with a couple empty spots on the shelves. No hand sanitizer or Lysol spray anywhere but plenty of anti-bacterial wipes. Not too worried about myself but I run a restaurant and cross paths with hundreds of people daily, so I am a little concerned about passing this along to my elderly mom and 97 year-old grandpa. They're both amazingly self-sufficient and should be fine chilling at home for a while if we have local outbreaks. I'll think a little about timing and limiting my visits to their houses.
