Miles Davis would be the greatest show in Bonnaroo history.
How is public voting different for this? Your reasoning is it’s comparing apples and oranges which doesn’t make sense since we’re voting on them either way
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
Good thing I didn't stay up for walaka to pick at 4 am last night lol. I just woke up randomly, browsed a bit through my phone and went to bed. Risky moves, I know haha.
Interesting thoughts btw at the end of the pod btw, I really liked bracket style voting aswell. There was more discussion and engagment and that through out the whole rounds (not just the first and the last or whatever). You're more rewarded for the course everyone has taken. It feels nice to see everyone breaking down your line up and saying how they feel about it (and that on a consistent base) rather than just anonymously vote for the 7-10 best, 5 best, 2 best line ups you like the most idk. Sure, it could be apples and pears but at the end of the day, you're gonna like one line up always a little more than the other one even if one line up has more active/young/recent acts than someone else.. I think people taking more into account last draft than just the 15 names they like on face value helps the voting process, I think.

Yeah that “jazz doesn’t belong at music fests” was an extremely Hot take
You should have been around for the fighting that happened when they announced Ornett Coleman as an addition to the Bonnaroo lineup. Possibly my favorite fights on this board happend because of that.

I didn't say jazz music was bad. I said a music festival is a bad a venue for it. The sound would be off, the setting would be off, the attire would be off. I think it would only work as a tent set or lime an indoor stage, but like Miles Davis on the What makes zero sense to me

Have you seen a lot of jazz live already? I think you've a very stereotypical view on what jazz live looks like (like the cliché trompet/sax player with a backing band of a drummer and someone on the keys idk). Jazz can be funky, energetic, sexy, uplifting, intense, smooth, chill and laid back.. You name it. Jazz can be combined with rock and electronica. Idk, I'd say look some artists up and see how they perform.

I mean I'm just talking about stereotypical jazz or swing music. I'm not talking about Comet is coming or some other people I won't name. I've been to a jazz club and listen to jazz music at home but I just don't think classical jazz belongs at a fest

That's respectable yeah. for those kind of sets you really have to be in it I feel like but how does that differ from something like Radiohead, Tool, Sufjan Stevens or any other act that you really have to get sucked into to get it? Passing by on a festival from afar it'd probably like "oh, it's jazz eh.." but I think once you get into it.. I think a jazz headliner can be just as cool as some other artists who don't really play that engaging music.
