Welp I want to talk about festivals in some capacity. Who consistently has the best designs in your opinion? My favorite is probably Lollapalooza. Their colors are great and they constantly knock it out of the park with branded materials, merchandise, stage decorations, and lineup posters.
coachella has the best posters. iconic and consistent.
day for night had the best overall design/aesthetic. when i looked at their website i felt like i was at the festival.
movement has the best videos. i challenge anyone to watch the 2019 aftermovie and not full the urge to be in Detroit next Memorial Day:
I do love Coachella’s and agree that it is iconic. I just don’t think they do a ton with it. Besides the posters and the merch, there really isn’t a ton of branding throughout. Not that I dislike that it just doesn’t grab my attention the way Lolla’s does. Like I saw the RedBull cooler for Lolla 2020 and it looked awesome. I couldn’t see Coachella doing that in a way that doesn’t just copy and paste the skyline/logo

regarding coachella, they definitely benefit from their mystique. but i think it's cool how consistent they have been with that very simple poster design over so many years.
I love that Primavera writes unique artist bios for everyone on their website. It feels way more exciting than reading cookie cutter press releases like everywhere else.
dekmantel always goes full out with some weird aesthetic. III points posters are great
primavera has amazing artist descriptions with the radio they have the best artist discovery of any music festival imo. lineup releases can be amazing or terrible however. the new normal and collab with pull&bear for merch last year was next level
overal minimilism that sonar has might be my favorite
I've always enjoyed Levitation/Austin Psych Fest's visual identity. It certainly fits the theme of the fest. I also generally like the aesthetic of Adam Zacks' events: Sasquatch and THING.
Moog Fest's graphic design was maddening the one year I went and it doesn't appear they've changed it much since.

Think Bonnaroo has the best “brand” of any fest Ive been to by a wide margin, but if this is about graphics / posters / on site art, I would say iii Points. Just among the ones Ive been to. Coach looks fire and has the best posters.
I'm a big fan of Levitation. They get a bunch of local artists to do a bunch of artist posters every year, and even in the club setting they still bring all the right lights/designs to make it all flow.
ACLs is always pretty boring, posters hit or miss, and most of the merch is just ACL/Texas/the guitar
I've always liked Bonnaroo's branding the best. It's always been a little goofy and doesn't try too hard to be cool. I haven't cared as much for the black&white + color lineups that they've done the past two years, but otherwise I've always jibed with their marketing and overall approach to advertising.
5.5/four tet, daphni b2b floating points, avalon emerson 5.12/neil young 5.19/mannequin pussy 5.21/serpentwithfeet 5.25/hozier 6.12-16/bonnaroo 6.28/goose 6.29/goose 9.17/the national + the war on drugs 9.23/sigur ros 9.27-29/making time 10.17/air
Coachella posters are iconic because through the years, they stuck with their poster-format but there's not much exciting about it. The only thing you're wondering each year is which kind of sunset they picked for their poster lmao.
Pretty bummed that Bonnaroo seem to have a poster aesthetic they don't plan on deviating from from here on out, one that I think is fine but not super inspiring. Also the squarch. Some of their visual branding is sketchy rn.
the live nation fests website is a nice easy site, but i hate that all of them use the same one w/ different color/font. definitely some 'not broke/dont fix' but at some point it's like why even waste money on making them look marginally different.

I'm going to say Jazz Fest easily has the best posters going back 50 years. If you're talking about lineup posters only, it can go to whomever people think. Day for Night definitely had one of the best festival websites ever.
Ah, remember when people wore face masks just to be cool and fashionable? Now it's super weird to see people in face masks jumping around and hugging each other. My mind just starts yelling "SOCIAL DISTANCING! SOCIAL DISTANCING!"
