Haven't been paying attention at all to football but I joined a work fantasy league.
Anyone got any suggestions for who to target with the 5th pick in a standard league? Assuming McCaffrey/Zeke/Saquon/Henry are all gone, I don't really trust the other RBs. Would it be dumb to take Michael Thomas at #5 in standard scoring?
I like Thomas there. If you go RB in Round 2, you’re hoping for Aaron Jones to slip (or even Drake?), or reaching down a bit for Ekeler or Carson. (Carson could even be there in Round 3 depending on your league.) I could live with that start.
As for other RBs at pick 5, I do like Kamala, more hesitant about Cook. There’s some risk with each, so I get the hesitation.

Don’t pick a WR or QB at pick 5 lol... Lamar/Mahomes should be on the board until round 3 (they won’t, but don’t pick them until then, you can get value at QB in round 10 even) Go with CEH, Cook, Kamara etc. Aaron Jones will be there in round 3 if you want to go WR in the 2nd but I don’t love him this year. If Ekeler is still sitting there in round 2 that’s your guy lol. WR is so deep you can find value late. RB falls off quick, get your RBs lol

Yeah there are still good RBs at 5, the ones Due mentioned. Thomas I'd consider in PPR, but probably not in standard. I think Henry might be a reach that high anyway, so if he does go top 4 that's a good chance to snag one of the other three guys. I'd also consider Jacobs over him.
The only league I'm doing where I know what pick I have I have the first pick, so it's just:
There's one league I'm in where QB stats are inflated a bit. Lamar and Mahomes usually go in the top 5 picks. I got Dak with the 13th pick, but the 5th QB.

One QB, no superflex. Just above average points for passing yards and TDs.

I dont need any other details to know getting Dak as the 5th qb is the steal of the draft.
Kyler Murray, Josh Allen and Kirk Cousins. But I also have Edwards-Helaire and Hopkins.

Perhaps. Can’t count on Allen getting 10 tds rushing again with the addition of Moss to that offense but hopefully he continues to develop better passing stats with Diggs freeing up Josh Brown a bit. Also, who knows with rookies? I looked hard at others but decided to roll the dice on CEH. Not sure why Hopkins dropped so much. Like I said peeps were jumping hard on qbs.

Draft report card had me 2nd best. Best report card went to a guy drafting CMC at 1 and waited on qbs as well. Took mixon and somebody at next turn and then landed Watson and Russell at QB. I know people love Lamar and Mahomes but I think their teams are already looking up at the rest of us. Should be interesting. We have to plat two defenses too.

Once these leagues get rolling, would it make sense for each one to have its own thread? Like, sang starts his own thread for his league so that the trash talk doesn't have to be clarified constantly?
