Lol. Got sucked into Eddie Vedder narrating Ohana and playing solo and with Red Limousine String Band - Elderly Woman, Black, Better Man and Hard Sun. But still White Stripes are always cool, and I’m back.
I don’t know. Everyone I know had that circled. We had the premier a couple weeks before Bonnaroo but everyone would have seen it twice. I think it’s the only ticket I have rolled over to 2021 and I’m grateful. Show is killer.
Such an eclectic sequence tonight, going from RTJ, to Old Crow’s variety bit, to Bruce Hornsby noodling around then playing under Polo G. It’s felt more curated to convey that feeling Bonnaroo aims for, where there are five different genres playing at the same time across the Farm. I give them credit for trying to be interesting in building out these streams.
Yep, kudos to Bonnaroo for putting this all together. I had my doubts they were doing anything when it seemed like there was no word about it for so long. So I have been pleasantly surprised with the variety of the content, and for three days. They should do this on a Saturday or Sunday once a month until the next Roo!
Those sure are the first five Beastie Boys albums.
Listen to Paul's Boutique, then Check Your Head. You've already heard the other ones.
i spent a good several minutes typing up that post and didn't even think it's just the first five albums. i'm over here thinking i'm mr big brain music critic man.
Fry: Wow. I love you guys. Back in the 20th century, I had all five of your albums.
Ad-Rock: That was a thousand years ago. Now we got seven.
Fry: Cool. Can I borrow the new ones? And a couple of blank tapes?
They actually did end up with eight total, but hardly anyone remembers the last two. Either way, this joke is now INCORRECT.
his 2013 set is one of the best DJ sets I've ever been to.
I'm loving the look of this CloZee set, the location mixed with the production is super cool
Clozee was fun and surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Wish it was longer
I’m surprised you were surprised she was good. She’s one of the best these days. The problem with the shortness of the set was that she really didn’t have time to distribute all the world-influenced voice work she mixes in. We got a little of it, but she’s a master of mixing in African, Eastern European and middle eastern (usually female) vocals and chants. She’s never let me down live.

I guess I just haven’t been a fan of live-streams, especially electronic producers but I agree seeing her live is always fun. Def on the short list of edm shows id go to sober haha

Well, looks like that's a wrap. Thanks, everybody, for listening to my musings and memories and adding some of your own. It was fun to share a common experience again over Bonnaroo.
Lastly, most of you probably know this, but if you're still looking to scratch that itch of watching old Bonnaroo sets, the person behind the Bonnaroo365 Instagram account has been streaming on Twitch most weekends since June. (I think it's under "Homearoo2020" on Twitch.)
I have no idea if this big old dirty festival will be back in 2021, but it was nice to reminisce again for a little while. Here's hoping some semblance of normalcy returns next year, if the public health situation allows it. I guess we'll get a little indication about Bonnaroo around Thanksgiving -- if they have the faith to try a presale on Black Friday. (I can't see it happening, but who knows. Not sure if other fests are selling 2021 tickets or if everyone is still in wait-and-see mode.)

Jeff Cuellar of AC Entertainment did the What Podcast recently and talked a little about this. He signaled a pretty strong preference for June at one point -- owing to tradition, but also the availability of key demographics to attend (college students being out of school, parents of school-aged children also being free to travel). It sounded like the late September dates strained things a bit.
That said, he also indicated flexibility at other points in their conversation. As much as they want June to happen, they're not blind to reality and safety concerns. Another twist is whether acts are touring again at all (staff in place, physical sets built, etc.)
So, lots of factors in play that we've all been talking about. Still seems as clear as mud. I tend to think fall is the only realistic chance, too. I can't imagine they'll want to go through the whole three month postponement again and push things from June to September. I guess we'll see what happens, if anything, between now and any sort of presale or lineup announcement.
Is NY the only state where kids are in school in June?
The states around here are usually in school until the third or fourth week of June. Though with eliminating snow days now, that might get pushed up a little bit.
