Gorillaz is my guess. Kendrick if we’re extremely lucky, Post if they decide to pull a 2019. we usually share quite a bit with Primavera so I have a good feeling about them grabbing one of their headliners in addition to the Strokes

yeah i wouldnt say Mdou Moctar is locked in at all. not playing a boston show doesnt mean you're on the BC lineup. plenty of bands play some combo of RI/VT/ME/Worcester on their tours.
Would love to see Rufus as the electronic Blue stage closer that we were tossing around ideas for the other day. Still think we get Phoebe and Jack Harlow, maybe Coin and Earl too.
2019 actually did have Arena acts oppose headliners, which I thought was a good idea. (Chromeo DJ Set over Travis Scott really saved my Sunday.) Not sure how it would've been in 2020, or how it will in 2022, given the 2020 move toward local DJs instead of nationally recognized names, but if i had to guess then i bet they'll have someone DJing opposite headliners again this year.
ditto w/ Yaeji during TOP. would be cool if they transformed the arena entirely into a dance music tent type space
That wouldn't be cool at all, because then there wouldn't be any comedy, podcasts, or performance art there.
Sure, he'd be a great choice, but he's playing in Worcester within a couple of months of Boston Calling. They've done that with lower-billed acts, but not with headliners. There was a four month gap between The Killers (who were very close to selling out the Garden when the announcement was made) Garden show and Boston Calling.

Gorillaz would be a terrible booking. They're not an act with a huge casual audience. I can think of dozens of potential headliners who'd move more one-day passes than Gorillaz.
Pretty decent. I think we lost Phoebe though earl, indigo de souza and peggy are my guesses for crossover aside from the acts already announced there
I wouldn't write off Phoebe Bridgers doing back to back days at both festivals. It's not like artists have to transport their own PA, lighting rigs, etc. between festival dates. Everything they'll need can easily go into the cargo hold of their flight.

True, but jumping a theoretical 4 spots on their day could be enough to cross them out, not sure if there is much more keeping her tied to BC 2022 other than her appearance on the 2020 lineup?
Bon Iver Run the Jewels - Brittany Howard - King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard
Foo Fighters HAIM - BROCKHAMPTON - M.I.A.
Billie Eilish sold out her TD Garden show in around 10 min. Short of someone like Taylor Swift or Beyonce who's not doing the festival circuit, no one will sell more one day passes in 2022 than Eilish. She's huge, plus there are so many fans who were shut out of tickets. She could easily sell out two or three nights at the Garden.
Bon Iver's a great booking to close Blue or Red for the day, but more of a City Hall Plaza headliner.
Swing for the fences and book someone who'll sell a ton of tickets.

I love stand-up and podcasts, I really do, but not once have i ever actually gone to see either one at Boston Calling. I'm never in the mood in that setting, i just don't think it fits. Obviously some people do and that's fine. it's cool that they try it, and sure maybe they can keep that stuff in the afternoon and then switch to DJs in the evening/night, but realistically if something from the last couple years is on the chopping block, it's stand-up and podcasts.

Bon Iver also sold out his TD garden show, i wouldnt underestimate his appeal here. That said, I still think it’ll be one of Post, Gorillaz, Kendrick or Tyler

There are six Red closer/Blue closer spots. Of the already announced artists, RTJ and HAIM are two of those six spots, which leaves four more open. The other five non-headliners aren't closing any stages, although Black Pumas will be closest.
These just happen to be the artists they announced first, regardless of where they fall on the poster and schedule.

Really? I stand corrected. I didn't think that he was that big.
Again, it's not going to be Tyler The Creator, due to the Worcester show being so close. Kendrick Lamar would be a home run, Post Malone would move a ton of tickets (but make everyone other than his diehard fans unhappy), and Gorillaz aren't going to sell a lot of tickets.

Given the lines to get in for the bigger names, a lot of people dig it.

yeah, i think a combo of both works best. basically like it was set up in 2019 with stand-up (or whatever) over by 6pm, DJs 7-11. nobody really wants to be going nuts to DJ sets at 2pm anyway. they should be expanding the number of DJs and the quality of the stage and sound in there, though. feels like a big opportunity, as it was pretty bare in 2019. that being said, the 2020 move to smaller, local DJs makes me think that it'll be basically the same set-up, assuming they stick with that for 2022.

Bon Iver pre-headlined for Chance last time he played BC though, and hasn’t really gotten any more popular since then
This lineup rollout has been really bad all over tbh, why did they give like 5 random names and then just dip
This is some of the dumbest shit I've ever heard, if its honestly how you feel it means you care more about hype and exclusivity then the final product of the festival, its essentially saying "Fuck BC for letting us know a handful of lineup acts before we should"....

They posted a couple names last summer then went completely silent. It completely feels like they have no idea what they're doing. I've had a ticket for this fest since the summer of 2019, you don't need to put incoherent garbage in my mouth

So you think radio silence from the cancelation last Feb until sometime next week/later this month would have been the play? Sorry not trying to be overly aggressive, I just get annoyed when people shit on music festivals for doing things "the wrong way"
