The subs in this scenario are pretty big though. I think if Bing wants to play kind of in the spirit of the game and have a sense of reality to it, it would make sense to give Tyler the bump

It's not in OP, it's a personal opinion that we should be relatively realistic.
Plenty of people are demoting former headliners it seems. Not promoting Tyler to headline isn’t crazy unrealistic in comparison when the highest he’s been is 3rd on his day

I agree, Tyler can fit as a sub. I just don't see MBV or VW making sense as a 3. VW have headlined Lolla pretty recently. MBV there's an argument there but they would be a very strong #3 imo.

i think mbv at 3 is fine, even at 4 or 5 would be fine to me

Vampire Weekend was third on their day on the Bonnaroo '20 poster. MBV was a sub at Coachella 11 years ago, and we've seen plenty of early Coachella acts like Beck and New Order accept lower spots in the two weekend era.

I think the realism is the fun part of this and I stand by my lineup being pretty well rounded anyway. If we aren't going for realism, then why are we drafting cheese edm? It's just a contest of who can name a cool act first if realism isn't a metric

We're booking cheese EDM because we have to fill a Sahara and need appropriate acts. That's actually part of the OP.
We also have to move tickets and exhibit Coachella's diversity. If we just put house and techno in the Sahara we would be ignoring one of its largest bases.
edit: this doesn't mean you can't make SOME exceptions (re: ratatat, underworld, 2manydjs, etc)
