i think Tyler is really the limit as far as a big sub that isn't headlining, and only bc he was #4 at OSL. anyone bigger / more established as only taking HLer bookings being shoved in as a sub, im gonna raise an eyebrow at.
There are some former headliners who would absolutely be a #2 now, and I won't care about that at all. But yeah, I agree. I don't need strict "realism" as in "keep enough absolute trash like Coachella books", but I also don't want people billing headliner level acts on the third line and shit.
yeah like this totally could apply to the strokes, but the fact that they're still demanding HLer billing whatever festival they play to this day, just makes it hard to swallow.
obviously resalism shouldn't be enforced at the level it was in the Team Roo draft, but i still expect everyone to create something that feels closer to Coachella than Desert Trip or Glasto.

Fun fact, The Strokes have played exactly 1 show in Belgium and they demanded to headline Rock Werchter (2020), a festival with a daily cap of 88,5k people. I got some intel saying it was one of the worst days they've ever sold with and were planning on adding a couple more big acts cause they didn't sell well enough. Julian needs to get his ego looked at.

Were they rebooked for 2021?
I saw somewhere that some folks were unhappy Kendrick not rebooked for 2021.

I can't tell much cause they're planning a lot for next year and I don't want to spread info that might in the not come true. Last time I heard, they were uncertain for next year but still possible.
And.. I'm 'some folks' lol. They reallyyyy wanted Kendrick but what happend was that the dude said he'd cancel his tour and not be able to come back. Werchter anticipated quick on this and booked Gorillaz for the spot of Kenrick. Few months later, Kendrick comes back into the picture and wants to tour again.. Some festivals already had their replacement covered, others didn't and were able to book him. Quite shitty play of him to play with a lot of organisations like that. Now he's playing a small town hiphop festival here cause they wouldn't make it work, shame honestly.

yeah i mean i can't speak to their oversees popularity, but here people my age still love em and always come out for their HL gigs, even if the quality in show isn't always top tier.
