Let me confirm, he said the game would be boring, but didn’t actually say who would win, then when Baylor blew out Gonzaga, took credit for predicting Baylor in a blowout???
Mhmm.
He said that a game between two teams that did not win the championship was "the real final".

That's all beside the point anyway. Gonzaga and Baylor were the best two teams all year and they met in the final. That's actually pretty rare in a single-elimination format like the NCAA tourney, so in a way we were fortunate to have gotten it, really. The final often isn't between the best two teams, probably isn't usually. Just a weird year to say that kind of thing, imo.
Twice in the Cal era I think Kentucky was probably the best team in the tournament and didn't make the final (08 and the until-F4 undefeated 15). They've been not the best team and gotten further than those teams did, (11 and 14).
Based on tournament seeding, which also had Houston as a 2 and UCLA in a play-in game, sure.
Based on Ken Pom, Coaches' polls, and NBA talent, it's Houston for me.
Well UCLA already proved the seeding meant nothing. I don’t ever bet on games but if I did I’d take UCLA if they played Houston in this tournament.
It's always good to take a scrappy underdog. Those moneylines pay.
And yeah that's what I'm saying. You think Houston had an easy road because they played low-seeded teams, right? Because I know you're not out there scouting Oregon St and Rutgers seriously.
Oregon St is from the same conference and had a similar seed to UCLA. Who's to say they weren't good? They beat Loyola, who was dramatically underseeded at an 8 when they should have been like a 2 or 3 according to the metrics, and who beat Illinois.
Houston was better by basically any real measure. It should not be controversial to say a two-seed was probably better than an eleven-seed.

Siena's Jalen Pickett has entered the transfer portal. He's had schools from all 5 power conferences reach out, including Baylor. I am both deeply saddened to see him go and VERY excited for him to finish his college career somewhere with a chance to have a brighter light shining on him. He will announce his decision in the coming weeks.
Manny Camper is going to try for the NBA. Wish he'd stay the extra year because I'm a selfish fan and really just want to keep watching him play for as long as I can. He's been so much fun to watch grow as a player.

Illinois and Kentucky are in a bidding war for the services of assistant coach and recruiting god Orlando Antigua. He was supposedly headed back to UK (was there under Cal, left for a head coaching gig and then ended up with the Illini), but Illinois has counteroffered with a package that would make him the highest-paid assistant in college basketball. I would be surprised if Kentucky didn't match that in turn.
Texas Tech vs. Texas game is tomorrow and it is the most hyped up game that will be played in Lubbock this year (mainly because of Beard). So much so that people have been camping out since halftime of the Mississippi State game on Saturday...

#12 Kentucky beat #5 Kansas at Phog Allen Fieldhouse 80-61 Saturday. Largest margin of victory for Kentucky in a road game vs a top 5 team in program history. Kentucky was #5 in today's new poll and Kansas fell to #10. I think Kentucky has a real chance to win the tournament this year, along with the other top five teams (Auburn, Gonzaga, Purdue and UCLA). Kentucky was handling business at now-#1 Auburn too until their PG turned his ankle and went out.
