Welp thought Teddy and I would get a nice Kentucky-Bama game tomorrow but no dice. Season's over.
worst kentucky season in how long?
08-09, which was the season that got Gillespie fired and led to Cal, was really bad. 12-13 was the last time we missed the tournament, I think, but Nerlens Noel tore his ACL against Florida, so idk that that should count. We were #25 when he got hurt.
Last time we had a losing record was 88-89, though. '89 was also when Dwayne Casey got caught holding the bag and Kentucky got in a bunch of trouble, leading to the Pitino rebuild.

I kinda just read Pitino and saw red. I just hate him because he’s the Iona coach now. He’s a slime ball of a human being, but one of the greatest basketball minds.
Hope he sticks around and helps make the MAAC even more competitive.

#16 UVA have a positive COVID test, so they're out of the ACC tournament too now. They played Syracuse yesterday and were set to play Georgia Tech today in a semifinal. Georgia Tech just gets to waltz on into the final now, I suppose.

I imagine UVA and Cuse are done from the NCAA tournament too

ESPN Bracketology has Cuse in its Last Four In, so they're right on the bubble. Virginia are good, would suck for them to miss out, but yeah idk if they'll be able to get that sorted out before Thursday and since selection is in two days.. Yeah, they might be SOL.
At this point they need to cancel the ACC tournament. None of these teams really have much to gain and it is definitely not worth possibly having to miss the real tournament.

my guess is fulfilling the ACC tournament obligation is worth more money to the ACC than the portion they receive from the NCAA tournament

I'm sure you're right. The ACC tournament was a big part of the ACC's crazy tv deal with ESPN. Just saying the teams don't really have much to gain.

Dude from NCAA just said on CBS that no at-large teams have been ruled out yet. He says he expects teams to play without positive players but not entirely ruled out. I'm sure it's his job to keep a positive outlook so we'll see how true that ends up being.
They mentioned that there are four teams who have dropped out of conference tourneys. Not sure who the fourth is aside from KU, UVA and Duke.

Found out the SWAC tourney was in Birmingham tonight by giving a ride to a Texas Southern player's mom, from one of the nicest steakhouses in town back to her hotel. She was so excited that her son was headed to the big dance, it was so cute. Apparently the players all immediately hopped on a plane to Indianapolis, and she had to go celebrate by herself.

Im so happy that even when The Game gets cancelled- Michigan still finds a way to end their season against OSU and now will probably go on to have a disappointing bracket performance without Livers
