My best friend and I had a pretty crazy interaction with Tyler The Creator and the rest of the Odd Future crew in 2012. This was like the peak era of Odd Future and they were doing these pop-up shops on every stop of their tour. We're like 16 at the time and my friend is growing out this crazy hairstyle. We're in line about to go into the shop when the security stops us because they just hit capacity. That's when Jasper (who's chilling outside) looks over at my friend and starts laughing his ass off. He takes out his phone and starts taking pictures of my friend. He's yelling at him to stand still and all my friend can say is "yes sir". This creates so much commotion that Tyler The Creator walks out, sees my friend, and proceeds to do the same thing as Jasper. I was filming the whole thing and when Tyler walked out you could hear me go "ohhhhh shit!". Tyler fist bumps my friend and repeatedly tells him "you're wild! you're fucking wild!". I'm actually surprised this wasn't a viral moment but they never posted any of the pictures or video. Tyler took a selfie with my friend even though they said they weren't doing pictures that day. Tyler signed my lucky plaid shirt. I talked to Taco for a bit. I accidentally walked behind Left Brain in the mall for a bit after we left the store. They also told me Odd Future would never headline Coachella.
bun b is a pretty normal dude. I met him briefly a couple of times. he likes Radiohead a lot.
turned down a chance to hang out khruangbin because everyone else I was with (including Kam Franklin of The Suffers) was significantly over dressed than me, who shot over to the show last minute not expecting to end up meeting them, which was incredibly dumb, considering I was on the khruangbin guest list.

I was lucky enough to watch a Cowboys-Saints game in a box at JerryWorld a few years back and at some point former Cowboys cornerback Larry Brown came into the suite and started taking pictures with people. I'm not usually one to do that, but my uncle who brought me asked if I wanted to and I thought it would have been kind of a jerk move not to take the opportunity. The guy's a legend. I say hi to Larry and he says "you're a big boy, must be a linebacker or something." I definitely was not a linebacker.
Basically, Super Bowl XXX MVP Larry Brown called me fat in the nicest way possible.
We did an event for A$AP Rocky called Midnight Rave, which was supposed to a late night dance party. It was a pretty much a tech house lineup with Loco Dice and The Martinez Brothers playing which I thought was really strange for A$AP’s crowd.
Rocky walks in with his crew of 100+ people and he personally asks me to change the music to hip-hop. So I had to basically scramble to find a local hip-hop DJ to play ($5,000 SOS offer to whoever can get to the venue in the next 30 minutes) and then proceed to kick Loco Dice off the decks.
Literally don’t understand why they booked tech house DJs to begin with.

Posted this before but I met Band of Horses before their Music Midtown show and I asked the singer what he’s saying during the Funeral at the end of the first verse (to know you all wrong [?]). He said “I’m pretty sure I say ‘we warn’”. When they did the song, he seemed confused himself.

I opened for Herobust and we ended up hanging out and drinking till about 6am, the guys from Yookie showed up at some point. At like 430 Herobust was like "bro. You played drum and bass at a frat party. Fucking nobody does that. Mad props." One of my absolute proudest moments.
SNBRN asked me why I was so sweaty when we did the changeover. It was September in Alabama lmao. He spent the end of the night trying and failing to get laid.

I used to work for Club Space but these events I’m talking about were one-off Art Basel shows presented by iii points
I met trantsgiving at a Sturgill Simpson show last year. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
I know people might have mixed(?) feelings about Andrew Yang here but both times meeting him were pretty special. I showed up pretty early to the first rally I went to. I asked one of the volunteers how I could get involved and they responded "do you want to volunteer right now?". They called over their supervisor and she said "actually do you want to stand behind Andrew Yang onstage?". So I got to stand literally right behind him during his speech. Months later I went to another rally and got my picture with him. It was a pretty spectacular moment when Andrew Yang grabbed my hand to pull me onto the stage. The angelic backlight behind him was just perfect.
Troy Sanders brother is/was in some band I saw, opening for you bet, Hellyeah with vinny paul. he was a super cool dude and hung out withy and my uncle for a good bit between sets.
he sort of helped my uncle convince the merch guy that if he bought one of paul's used splash cymbals we could all get meet and greet passes.
so in line to meet vinny paul and the dude from mudvayne the girl in front of us decided she wants vinny to sign her ass and just takes off her pants and hops on the table. I was like 16, dd'ing my uncle and his friend, and vinny played the whole thing up for us. fun guy.

I went to a soccer game with Jozy Altidore's brother and some of his family, and Jozy got injured 15 minutes into the game. I also went to an AS Roma training session they had in Boston and got a selfie with Daniele De Rossi that my friends still make jokes about to this day
We had Dan Deacon and Polo & Pan shows on the same night (the venues are next-door to each other). I was the artist liaison for Dan but since Polo & Pan were a bigger touring party they were occupying the green room. So I set up Dan's green room in one of the venue offices.
The office had monitor with security cam feed from outside the venues. So me, Dan Deacon, his two crew members spent like an hour just watching this security cam feed and Dan would freak out everytime someone would walk past the door to his show and into the Polo & Pan show. We started betting on people who were walking up to see what show they were there for.
It was really funny but horrifying for Dan because most people were going to Polo & Pan (1,500 capacity show vs his 200 capacity show). He started his set with a joke about it.
Dan asked me to be his TM after the show because I was able to calm him down when he kept wanting to push back his set time, cause he was freaking out about playing to an empty room. It ended up being a really good crowd though.
I met Janelle Monáe after the VIP show at Bonnaroo 2009. She was the headliner and stayed after the show and chatted with people that hung around. She is TINY, beautiful, and really nice.

I interviewed Tony Hawk twice for the local paper.
My first game working for the Jags I was standing on the sidelines near the corner of the endzone. Aaron Rodgers ran one in for a td to that pylon and I could audibly hear him scream "FUCK YEAH" as he did the belt celebration.
I met Sam Beam (Iron & Wine) at a record store in MO. He signed the cassette I bought (wish I’d gotten vinyl in hindsight but the store said it was a more limited run) and he asked me if I was going to the show that night. He got really mad at me and hated my excuse of having homework. you could tell it really ruined his mood
LeBron James declined to answer my question in a way that was firm but also made me feel totally comfortable and not insulted. It was really impressive. And it was right when I was starting to get a hang of the whole journalism thing so it made me feel like a pro haha.
I covered a Habitat for Humanity & Warrick Dunn foundation event and Arthur Blank (owner of the Falcons/Atlanta United and Home Depot) was trying to sneak out the back of the event and nearly knocked me into the beneficiary family's brand new TV. I was holding a boom at the time and there's nothing I could have done to stop my fall but he caught me then kept walking. Warrick Dunn was there and he's the nicest, friendliest dude ever. Roger Goodell was also there and he sucks.
I interviewed Kevin Hart and he was awesome. Happy to answer whatever and had me and the camera guy dying laughing the whole time.
Reverend Run never responded to my press inquiries before an event then I saw him trying to sneak out after the show so I jogged up next to him and asked him a few questions. He said he respected the hustle.
I've actually interviewed Jimmy Carter multiple times but not about anything super serious. Once was at a book event of his. The handlers gave him an enormous stack of books to sign and he knocked out the whole pile in like two minutes while carrying on a full conversation with someone else. It was clearly the result of a lifetime of practice and one of the more remarkable things I've ever seen.

what was the Bron question?
It was around 2011 or 2012 when he started being a little more vocal about political causes and/or social issues. He had retweeted a few people calling him racial slurs on Twitter then responded to it. My office was right next to the Hawks arena so we got press passes and I popped over with a camera to ask him about it. The question occurred in the post-game presser where everyone was standing around his locker so I was literally face to face with him (more like face to chest though).
Honestly it wasn't a big story and didn't really require any follow up. But my boss was cool and basically sent me over there so I could talk to LeBron.

I met Bill Walton like a decade ago while working valet. The other guy wanted to drive his car so I had a few minutes of shooting the shit. A very real dude. We were talking college hoops and I told him to watch out for Butler. His reply was “Butler!? Butler stinks!” They ended up going to the championship back-to-back years. I doubt he remembered that conversation but I like to pretend that he did.
