it's actually kind of wild to me that it's getting so much press, because the Armed have been killing it for years and literally nobody knew who they were (in more ways than one)
i was stunned when it got BNM today - I fully expected a glowing review from like Ian Cohen or whoever followed with a perfunctory 7.6 rating
they also got essential release shout-out/AOTW from Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, and Bandcamp, which makes me even more curious

You guys realize it's all a troll, right? One of my favorite by them was calling a song "FT. FRANK TURNER" and when he got pissed off, they issued an apology purposely confusing him with Frank Carter from Gallows.
Until this album, nobody was sure who is in the band and even now, I feel like the people that came forward aren't in the band.

One of the big theories is this is actually Ballou himself.

Not something I'd likely consider for my year-end list since there aren't any original songs on it, but Jeff Rosenstock recorded a full ska version of his last album and it's incredibly fun
There is so much hype around that album, it better be good

They never properly toured in the u.s so thats one way to keep people from paying attention. If they had ever been at SXSW during their existence the hype train wouldve been there a while ago.
Was really looking forward to Andy Stott and Leon Vynehall this month, but both kinda moved in a direction I didn't find too exciting.
Dinosaur Jr. though, these guys have more material from their original lineup in the last 15 years, than the 15 years before. That's kinda awesome and hilarious. And it's all consistently good. Say what you want about J Mascis, but the guy seriously shreds.
