The worst part about that mistake was Kyler was about to do a 99-yard TD drive against Rodgers. That was an MVP securing drive and Green just…ruined it.
I fell asleep. Green Bay had Aaron Rodgers out playing defense?!?!
you know what I mean. Rodgers couldn’t put it in the end zone the drive before.
The trade for Mark Ingram was for a 7th round pick in 2024. Plus the Texans threw in $250,000 via a one year contract extension with a max value of $2.8MM. On the one hand you sit there thinking wtf is wrong with the Texans? But then they said that they wouldn’t have fielded calls from any other team because of his history here. Obviously they liked him as a person and did him a favor trading him back to a team with a t least a chance to compete. I hope he plays Sunday as I’ll be back in New Orleans before the game. Meanwhile I’m jamming on the audio from night one of WSmfP at Orpheum. A friend was supposed to get me some free tickets for Halloween night show where they often do a random cover set. Not sure if it’s going to come through, and it’s probably just as well. But I’d probably go Sunday if he gets the hookup.
Ingram confirmed all that in his interview, and said he really respected his coaches in Houston for giving him the opportunity to sleep on a decision as well as make it himself. I love Ingram. He got some early career hate from homer LSU fans, but fuck them.
According to CBS, the Panthers pursuit of Watson is not over. Part of the compensation would be Christian McCaffrey and 3 - wtff - 1st round draft picks. The article says that the Texans are interested in some of the Panthers’ DB’s, and that part of negotiations has stalled. Seems hefty unless they know there’s some type of resolution to the 20 something sexual complaints. IDK. I love Watson as a QB. And it’s not like you can just pick up a player of that caliber at any time. You’d think with the trade deadline next week, there’s at least somewhat of a possibility the trade goes through. If so, it’s kind of a weird situation in that if any active players potentially are involved, at least that part of the trade couldn’t be voidable if things went south for Watson. Idk
It's theoretically surprising that Houston seems to be more eager to trade Watson to a divisional opponent. You'd think that they would be trying to send him to the NFC. Then again, it is Houston so it's not really that surprising.
Three firsts, McCaffrey and a DB to be named is not something that I would do for a player who may not be suiting up for me for another year. Sure, he'll theoretically have two more full years left on his contract after that but it's also highly likely that he'll demand that be renegotiated once (if) his legal and civil troubles are resolved. At $37M he's likely to not even be in the top ten salaries by 2023 and whoever gets him is going be all in on him being their guy - they'll have no leverage.

?
Yeah. I meant a conference opponent, not division. (They seem to be focused on Miami.)

I think they're just trying to get as many assets as they can, but he has a no trade clause, otherwise they might have traded him to Philly or somewhere else in the NFC by now.
I think he'll go wherever they trade him to. He can threaten to decline the trade but if he wants to play - and really wants out of Houston - he'll probably waive the no trade to most destinations. Maybe not to Detroit. Pretty much everywhere else is up. Well, not the Jets or Giants but at least he can get all of that NYC limelight and probably plenty of sketch massage places.
I get them trying to get assets but you also don't want to set yourself up to regularly getting your team beat by the former face of your franchise. If the packages are relatively similar I'd take a little less to send him to the NFC if I were Houston.

The Panthers are in the NFC
I know. My point was that the rumored asking price for the Panthers trade was too much and they should be more flexible to get him into the NFC instead of painting themselves into Miami.

Ok but he's literally already vetoed Philly.
We don't know that. I suspect if he was offered Philly or staying in Houston he wouldn't fight it.
Frankly, it's gross that any team wants him anyways.
And the Philadelphia Eagles, whose general manager Howie Roseman has conducted extensive due diligence into Watson's complicated off-field situation, as have other NFL teams, aren't one of the teams Watson would waive his no-trade clause for, according to league sources.

You're right. We should definitely assume that anonymous rumors from August are unimpeachable. I am out of control questioning the logic of that narrative.

It makes a lot of sense that someone who used to work at the Houston Chronicle and now works for a sports talk radio station in Houston knows more about this than you do lmao yes.
Fuck some Bucs. I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow, but I hope we kick their ass. Sanders going to IR forced me to play Ingram in one fantasy league which I hope he does get a TD at least. Otherwise it’s a hard game for me to reason. Our defense rules but our offense is maybe only efficient and not dominant like we really need to be in order to be a title contender. Fucking Thomas getting healthy and his shit together would help. Bucs -4.5 with the over under 48.5. City finally gets sports books tomorrow but I gotta travel. Saints +180’s and Bucs -210ish. For fun, I’d take the Saints to win straight up with the under unless some crazy shit happens in the second half or If it goes to OT. For real, gimme that 50 spent.

And yet two months later plenty of other league insiders are still speculating that it is possible, if currently unlikely.
Listen, we're getting nowhere here. I think that he is unlikely to veto virtually any opportunity to get out of Houston. You think otherwise. We both think it's unlikely that he goes to Philly. I think we'll have to leave this here instead of subjecting everyone else to our bickering.
