Here's a question: do we realistically think Coldplay will ever play this festival again? Is Coldplay "cool" enough for Coachella in the 2020s?
They’ve def moved into the catalog portion of their career here in the US. They haven’t a had a proper crossover hit in the US since Every Teardrop is a Waterfall back in 2011.

Sky Full Of Stars and Something Just Like This were big hits in the US

They wrote those songs with other producers so they don’t pas our boy dioramadeux’s authenticity test

Didn’t include those as they were both collabs with Avicii and The Chainsmokers, respectively. I don’t believe they include either of those in their live set often? Haven’t seen them since them live since the Xylo tour though.

I’d have to assume they play their only 2 hits in the last decade every chance they get
“Hymn for the Weekend” was also a top 40 hit, but more intrigued by the idea that “A Sky Full of Stars” was the last big Coldplay crossover but not “Paradise” or “Princess of China”.
Coldplay is a safe Headliner choice, I don't think they'd waste a ton of energy targeting them specifically. But if they're ever in need of one more headliner, they're a safe choice always if they're available. I wouldn't anticipate Coldplay but wouldn't be surprised to see them at the same time.

Rihanna couldnt even save that album. But hey, the possibility of Rihanna and Beyonce showing up for their set would make the hype pretty big.
Edit:Leon Bridges is a possible. Tour hits LA in oct and then 2022 dates start late April.

Those tour dates for the avalanches looks like it puts them in California a little too early for it to be Coachella unfortunately. Really hoping I’m wrong though.

I remember when Radiohead did a tour that ended in Phoenix a month before in 2012 then just came right back and played both weekends. Its not unheard of to get close early and then play the fest. Besides, maybe theyre playing South By and can't announce that yet so there will be additional dates in the southwest and southeast which keep them in the u.s. They easily could play Ultra at the end of March in Miami too. Probably not too big of a deal to hang out for a couple weeks before playing compared to a month and a half.
Was just about to say something about this. I guess Kanye is serious about this album. More than his last few. Now I'm kind of excited. Commercial just played during the NBA Finals.
