Also wanted to say that this was the most diverse concert I’ve ever attended and I love Goldenvoice for being inclusive and booking something for every type of individual so we can all come together and have a good time. They get ragged on for booking too much of this and that and not enough of what they had prior to 2016 but they don’t get enough praise for changing format and making this festival for everyone.
I agree - the 2019, 2020 (RIP), and 2022 lineups have been like "fuck any rules" - they've booked K-Pop, Contemporary Christian (Lauren Daigle in 2020), marching bands doing EDM, J-Pop, hardcore punk, Mongolian folk metal, composers, both traditional and contemporary Latin American music, country, calypso, reggae, and *still* manage to catch virtually every important up and coming artist *right* when they blow up (Lizzo, Fred Again, the fact that they got Doja in 2002 a month before the Say So video dropped, etc).
While I can definitely do without the 21 Savages and Wiz Khalifas in the Sahara (although it seems like virtually every rap artist this year killed it, from Keem to Sean to Vince to Denzel etc) I honestly think this festival is getting *more* interesting not less.
Yeah, this weekend has changed my (admittedly somewhat dumb) perspective a bit on the “coachella is getting hit by feet fatigue” take. I do still wish they’d book one or two more of the bigger acts from the heyday (a la hot chip this year) but on a whole there’s just nothing like this festival’s bookings in the states. And the crowds this weekend have been great across the board, the only set that seemed empty to a sad degree was Danny Elfman, which was a ghost town (on the right side at least).

From the live stream and videos I watched, many outdoor sets seemed to have a big pileup on the left side but the right side was empty - I watched Solomun W1 videos and on the right side videos it looks like a big crowd, on the left side it looks sparsely attended. The last few years I have been able to get crazy close, even for huge crowds like Billie and Rufus, by just walking behind the crowd and creeping up on the right. It's Coachella - there's a magic angle for walking up to any tent/stage.
Nilufer Yanya > most of Sama Abdulhadi > JID > Japanese Breakfast > Rina Sawayama > Caroline Polachek > Black Midi > most of Danny Elfman > most of Caribou > Floating Points > DJ Koze
How was Floating Points? Was it just a DJ set? I was hoping he'd bring his planned solo live show he had ready for 2020, but alas.

Top 5 for this year for me are: Kim Petras Caroline Polachek Carly Rae Jepsen Rina Sawayama Phoebe Bridgers
Also enjoyed Vince Staples and Run the Jewels a lot. They’ve played Coachella a bunch, but I had never seen them.
Worst show: DUST!!!
Today is got pretty bad. It was a stupid cloud of it at sunset during Karol G. And even the fog that came out of the Igloo just didnt go anywhere cause the dust was so thick.
Oww. Day 6 is rough. Glad to be back in a proper bed already. Stagecoach people are gonna roast and have black lung next week.
