This is a space to highlight cool undercard acts that people may not have heard of and should make an effort to get into Centeroo early to see. Happy discovering!
nubya garcia is an amazing jazz saxophonist. she was part of the virtual roo-ality back in september
too many zooz are like a brass band; kinda funky. got big buskin in NYC. played on Lemonade
andy frasco - sort of part of the jam scene. kind of a character. shotgunning beers on stage, running around, making jokes, etc. but his band is solid. he's been hosting a youtube thing, the world saving shitshow, during covid to raise money; he interviews musicians and ocmedians and is just generally kind of weird. but they're good and put on a fun show. would be a fun way to get a thursday started at bonnaroo. there's lots of his full sets on youtube from levitate, peach fest, SXSW, etc.

First big discovery of the lineup for me is LP Giobbi: a house DJ who sounds pretty solid just based on me skipping around through a couple Youtube videos. Presumably will be the best non-Tipper act on the Other on her day
Pinegrove: I knew of them but only first listened to them after their release of Amperland, NY when I saw a bunch of people talking about how good they are live compared to their records. And they weren't wrong. I was truly blown away, and they're now my second-most anticipated act. This film is great all the way through, I like every song, but some favorites at the moment are: Dotted Line, Spiral, Overthrown, Moment, The Alarmist, Morningtime, Alcove, On Jet Lag.

Wow, this is like, real house music! Thanks for pointing her out, she is definitely on my list now.
Sometimes when people say a bonnaroo artist is "house music" what they mean is it's bass music with a kick drum.

Thursday is still on the thin side compared to prior iterations, but I could get down with this. This live set has a certain energy that was missing on the studio cuts:
I'm not super ProBoards savvy, but I know Colony House on Sunday will throw down a fun indie rock show! They were the last show I saw, just 'round Valentine's Day last year with my wonderful wife. Their third album is great, and I get a good amount of enjoyment with their previous two. They're also from TN, so yeah, I think these dudes will throw down a sweet Sunday set!
Stupid excited about the Turkauz Remain in Light & Sylvan Esso Superjam (both already posted here).
I'll add Caamp to this list since I haven't seen them mentioned yet. Feel like they'll have a great little Sunday set...
Agreed on the Remain in Light show. I will see that at least twice this fall. I love Adrian and haven’t seen him play live since King Crimson Thrak tour in 1995. I saw him play with his 80’s side band The Bears a couple times. They were a party pop band who just had fun on stage. Bonus is I love Turkuaz live, plus I’ve never seen Jerry Harrison.
As for Caamp, those guys are pretty good if you like folk and picking. They opened Voodoo main stage Sunday 2018. It was a nice little set to kick off the day while you’re in recovery and get your head right mode.

I’m pretty stoked fer the Turkuaz “RiL” set, even though it won’t be the whole album like Angelique Kidjo back in ‘17.

Word. I read the interview with Jerry last year when he was said that it wasn’t necessary to play the album. Doesn’t matter to me because of the talent being the draw plus the fun we the audience will have. Also I didn’t go that year, but all 3 of my kids made it to the AK set and loved it. We had seen Lotus play heads (possibly the best mfers to do it) and Gravity A as well. Heads aren’t a band I exposed them all that much too, but it comes pretty easy.
Pinegrove is sorta emo, which is also relatively adjacent
But the real answer to your question is no, not really
dang, I was hoping there was some band like Fontaines DC or Pup that I just wasn't aware of
you may like uncle acid. they are definitely more in the stoner/psych arena than punk, but they may tickle your fancy if you aren't into the more emo options (e.g dashboard)
