just for fun. please share your reasoning or any any splits, i.e. "i'd catch the start of king gizz and the end of MMJ". but vote like you could only see one.
Actually this hypothetical is impossible because there's the Which Stage and two tents. We wouldn't have a four way conflict unless Goose played The Other

I pick Gizz because they’re my favorite out of those choices and they’re sick and hell live. If they do end up playing it’ll be their only U.S. gig until fall 2022 and that makes their set even more special.
Surprised to see people vote Goose before King Gizz. I guess a lot of us have seen King Gizz but I didn't know some of you liked Goose that much.
I haven't voted yet, but it'd be my first Goose show and their first Bonnaroo show, could be a pretty special set. But yeah Goose will be touring hard for a while so they won't be hard to catch (I have tickets for them in new Orleans in November).
King Gizz probably the better move. But the heart wants what the heart wants.

Gizz and Goose are the only answers here. Goose has the most potential to put on a breakthrough performance, imo, but wouldn’t argue too much with folks who say Gizz.
I’m sure plenty of people skipped MMJ in 04 to get up front to see the legend Steve Winwood or something, and those people made a mistake. But 17 years later maybe it’s time to give some new bands a whirl.
If the worst happens I'll prolly start at King Gizz, but end at MMJ. While I really wanna catch Goose, I'll have other chances I'm sure. And the Sylvan Esso SJ I still think will be less of a usual superjam. Like sure, they'll have some guests and do some covers, but I still think it will be at least a 70% Sylvan Esso WITH show.
I went with Sylvan Esso (assuming it's mostly Sylvan Esso songs). It could be their final WITH show ever. It seems like the perfect type of set to celebrate the return of live music. The "vibes" will be great.

i voted Goose. would hate not to see Gizz but i simply like Goose better.
MMJ i've seen a bunch. but if they are LN which i know it will be a triumphant and cathartic set. definitely a better experience than seeing MMJ at some shed.
Seen MMJ so many times. Seen Sylvan Esso. LOVE the new King Gizz album. Have to vote for them. But since they won't be there, I'll be at Goose, seeing if 3post1jack1 knows all the words to their songs.

well the chorus for "Hot Tea" goes "LA DA DA DA DA DA DA DADADADA" so i've got that one down.
Going Gizzy. I am seeing Jacket in Charlotte and at Hulaween so it does make the decision a lot easier. If I wasn’t seeing them any other shows I’d go with MMJ over the field.

I appreciate what King Gizz does but a lot of it is just way too wanky for my tastes.
I admit that I've only listened to a fraction of King Gizz's discography (all of Nonagon Infinity and select songs from a few other albums), but I can't say I've *loved* any of it. I'm sure they have plenty of songs that go against this, but it seems like almost every song I've listened to follows a similar pattern. Quick driving drum beat, vocal and guitar melodies mimicking each other, and the same quick drum fill around the kit every single time. I listened to the first song of Butterfly 3000 and it felt the same, but just swapping rock instrumentation for synths.
Despite this, their live show does look fun. If anybody has recommendations for songs/albums that break that trend, I'd be happy to give them a shot.

I'd recommend The River on Quarters for kinda breaking that trend you mentioned, though not completely, and it is a song that they play live pretty often

I’ll recommend checking out Fishing For Fishies or Gumboot Soup, both fairly under-appreciated albums of theirs. Infest the Rats Neat also breaks that style mode for the most part
But yeah you definitely described the general Gizz vibe and if it doesn’t do it for you it’s more likely you just won’t be much of a fan
I voted Goose, but could be swayed to MMJ or Sylvan Esso. I saw MMJ in 2016 but I had some body part that was so sore I had to leave the pit and watch the show in the back of What by myself. Really took away from the experience and I want to give them another shot. I've also realized that MMJ is a band that I'd like to see, but am generally unwilling to pay for when they're in town.
The Sylvan Esso show could be good to great depending on how it's structured, who sits in, covers, etc. And it helps that I really like Sylvan Esso and think they're a good choice to lead a SJ. But there's a fairly decent chance that I'd be just hearing mostly Sylvan Esso music with some relatively uninteresting guests, and I've seen them thrice so I don't think this one can win out in this conflict right now.
Gizz would win out over some other bands on the lineup, but I don't like them better than the other three. Probably won't end up at this set at Roo, given the other names on Saturday. But we'll see - all depends on the schedule.
Goose I just enjoy every time I have them on. I don't even know any of their songs or albums really, but I can tell you with a fair degree of certainty that I'm gonna have two beers and a bowl and spend two hours at their show looking at other people with a goofy wide-eyed grin that clearly communicates "Wow this is awesome, I'm having a great time!" And I'm really looking forward to that.

I'll be at MMJ as my show count is in the double digits and they're the only band whose shows I "collect". Can't miss the chance to add an LN Which show to my credits. There's nothing on Saturday I'll miss for that show.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

“Fishin’ For Fishies” is the first song that sold me on King Gizz. That song is so stupidly fun it’s impossible not to enjoy.
