I think blues traveler is the obvious choice here - maybe turkuaz because I really don't have interest in them outside of their Talking Heads stuff with jerry harrison/adrian belew. Blues Traveler had some great singles that bring out some real nostalgia though. I was a little older than my daughter when runaraound and Hook were huge, and I bought that CD with my allowance for my boom box. Just like she's "favoriting" shiz on spotify that I hear over and over.
We're three rounds in so I guess I should clarify: Are we looking for which of these acts is just the overall worst? I thought that we were looking for which is the worst as a jam band.
what's your beef with moe? i didn't think they were big enough for anybody here to have strong feelings about them.
i don't care really, i went to my share of moe shows in the early 00s but haven't really kept up with them. but in terms of being a good jamband they are a hell of a lot better than many of the acts on this list. some decent songs and some crazy jams.

I wouldn’t say I have a beef, just that I don’t know most of the bands on this list, and they are the ones I like the least of the ones I do know. Plus moe must go is fun to say

moe. is more in line with an improvisational band like phish/umphrey's in that they will take a jam into weird and new territory rather than just "extended solos" or whatever. it's a mixed bag, there can be a lot of filler in a 30 minute "recreational chemistry"

There’s definitely some improv going one. I’m sure they pull a lot from when they rehearse, but they’re not all calculated. You play with the same people enough you know how to bounce off each other pretty well

each band can be different. phish does not prepare a setlist. trey either makes audible calls for the next song during the show or just goes into a song and the rest of the band picks up on it and follows them. the exception to this rule is if trey wants to play a song they haven't played in a while or don't play frequently, if that's the case before the show he'll go around to the other band members and ask if they are good with playing "tela" tonight or whatever. or if they want to play a new cover for a specific show they'll plan that before hand (i.e. covering Boston at the Boston Cream Pie Baker's Dozen show).
in terms of jamming, not to get to fundamental but there are composed portions of songs and areas generally designated for a jam. these jam sections are truly improvised, although they can follow patterns established in the history of jamming that song, or sometimes a type of jamming can carry over from show to show on a tour (like page doing synth heavy jams during the first few shows of the current summer tour). occasionally the jam section can pop up in different places, but most of the time you know when composed section is going to end and the improvisation section is going to begin.

bands jamming styles can be different. for example Umphrey's has a very structured way they do jams. i don't know all the ins and outs of it but they call it Jimmy Stewart and it follows a specific pattern whereby one member starts a theme and the others' start to layer over the top of it. i've read the explanation but it's too technical for me. and i don't think all of their jams are Jimmy Stewart jams that's just one method they use. this is why you'll occasionally have somebody say UM isn't a "real" jamband but that's silly, they are up there improvising it's just less free form then Phish or the Dead.

So Phish sounds like my definition of a pure jam band but I’m still not a fan of it. Maybe if they were instrumental. My problem with jam bands is always the vocals or lyrics.
