When I was in college, I took History of Rock and Roll. The professor had a guest speaker come in to talk about Zappa. Before playing one song, she asked if the entire two hundred person class had read some book i hadn't even heard of. When the entire class didn't answer yes, she refused to play the song bc we wouldn't get it. Have irrationally avoided Zappa since then.
I was in this class in 2019 and our professor made this metaphor for two types of people and used music as an example. Anyways, long story short. He asked who had heard of the notorious UK alternative rock band called Radiohead before and like... 20 people in a class of like 200 raised their hands.
