Looks like nobody taking the Lions was a pretty good play after all
Yeah. For my last pick, #25, it was getting down to the dregs. It came down to Falcons or Panthers (along with Texans, Jets, Jaguars Lions, etc.). I went with the Falcons who had slightly better odds from Vegas as to how many anticipated wins they'd have this year. We'll see later on if that turned out to be a mistake as I had Pick #30 last year and went with the Jets based on the same methodology (they sucked ass and weren't close to that 5.5 over/under of wins the books had available).
The author of the wins pool contest (Bill Simmons not really the author but the guy who brought it to the forefront) seemed to think that Slot #3 was the best place to be. I had that last year, and I didn't win. I had #4 this year, so we'll see what happens. It was kind of dumb luck that the Cardinals (best record in football) were on the board for my 2nd choice (the 18th pick). I was going to take the Raiders, but they got selected right before my pick. AZ seemed like a no-brainer considering that they are an up and coming team that's positioning itself for at least a few years of relevancy. And if they could break through, I had a chance. The Bills were my first pick at #4, and I figured them to be a 12 or 13 win team again.
FWIW, below is the order of the picks (30 out of 32 teams are selected). Any time one of the two fallout teams beats one of the teams in play, that slaps a $5.00 penalty on whomever has that team. Detroit and Houston are the fallouts, and so far, Detroit has "0" wins while the Texans have one over the Jaguars.

thepeppers should be happy as the pool goes up another $10.00 today with the Cardinals (me) and Jaguars (Jortles) losing. Total penalties due for losses to non-picked teams is up to $25.00. Me, spent, Jake Jortles x2 and potentpotables are on the hook for $5.00 for each of those losses.
