Another fun 4 days. Ended up clocking over 49 miles walked and I drank much less this year so I felt great every morning. My favorite sets in no order were Green Day X2, Dua, Metallica, Charli, Sam Fender ( even though it was shortened), 100 Gecs, Glass Animals, Dashboard, Idles, Turnstile, Maneskin, Tove Lo, Zach Bryan, Rolling Blackouts Coast Fever, Muna and Kygo.
Any reports on J Cole's set? Haven't heard much during his run thru the festival circuit this year (which alone is probably an indication it's not been great).

Had friends there and they said it was underwhelming. They said the best part of his set was when he brought out JID because he at least had energy lol

“Prosecutors said one woman began grinding on a man in his late teens or early twenties in front of the Perry Stage while a man took the victim’s phone and passed it to a second woman. She, in turn, placed it inside a fanny pack.“
It's still wild to me that people travel from out of state here to steal phones
Its about access. Lolla selling single days and being a huge fest is easy. When you have a Perry's to do most of the work its routine. $100 a person to get in and if you made out with 100 phones seems worth it to the ones doing it.

This exactly. They performed “Stick” which is a great turn up track, and ironically Cole has a fantastic verse on there which he didn’t bother to do. It’s like he was trying to be unimpressive.
My takeaways (First, a few non-music related thoughts):
Wow. Give it up for the weather. I mean, really. Just perfection.
Scored free VIP tickets for Thursday which in all honesty kind of took away from what I wanted to see. Since I scored the pair of tickets, I brought my wife, Amanda, and we decided to bring the boys. That being the case, we went down later than I wanted to, and did things other than I had originally planned. Which ultimately was fine. We all had a great time, and the boys got some cool experiences.
Thoughts on VIP. I would never pay the extra scratch for them. It was cool to get them, and experience it, but I’d prefer the GA fields to the viewing platforms. Expedited entry in with no security hassling you and the golf cart rides from one end to the other are great perks, though.
Thoughts on the festival becoming more and more family friendly: I feel like as an aging parent that is trying to stay youthful and doesn’t really want to give these events up yet, I like it. Friday was a great day to bring the kids, and I feel like Sunday would have been too.
100 gecs was fun, we were on the far platform, so I wish we were closer, but kids loved it regardless. My youngest won’t stop asking me to play “mememe”
Was listening to Ashnikko from the VIP area while we were relaxing waiting for Metallica. She sounded legit.
Metallica was good, but if you’ve been seeing them for a while, they’ll never be as good as they once were. Still, they put on a great show, and never disappoint.
Wet Leg was adorably fun.
Genesis Owusu top 5 set
I actually had a good time listening to Royal Blood
I was starting to get buzzed on Seltzers when I checked out Muna (first time opting in for linking the credit card to the wristband - dangerous), and they played Mr. Brightside so of course it was fucking awesome.
Glass Animals crowd was insane. They are future headliners like it or not.
I was actually impressed with girl in red, but was definitely too old to be there.
I opted for Bob Moses instead of Dua. #NoRegrets
Lil Durk was good but the crowd at Perry’s not so much.
YG let it be known that it’s still #FDT 24-7-365-4-Life and I’m all about it.
Went to IDLES, laid down in the field, and power napped.
You knew going in that Turnstile was going to have the best set of the weekend.
JID performing “Stick” made hanging around an extra 1:15 after Turnstile worth it.
Charli was every bit of fantastic as I expected and then some. The panache! The energy! She rocked a massive crowd and she did it at 5 PM. She’s a star. Really wish I would have just made the drive up to Summerfest a few Fridays ago and caught her show there. Top 5 set.
Local Natives smashed it. Top 5 set.
Green Day were so good. I was surprised at how sharp they were. I would’ve stayed for the whole thing but just had to catch Polo & Pan.
Fantastic set to close the weekend with. I got some great photos. Top 5 set.
