Folks on the listserv are starting to throw around some creative ideas, as well as some very practical suggestions for meals that require minimal effort but still keep well in the heat.
Now to be fair, I haven't got mine figured out yet. (I reserve the right to steal any and all of your great ideas.) That said though, I do know a few things we'll probably have with us:
Pasta and red sauce--takes virtually no effort and soaks up beer in your gut like a sponge
That's my first couple of ideas. I'm sure something more inspirational will come along in the next 30 days or so. I just have to find that dish that walks that fine line between easy/tasty/and-not-totally-refridgeration-dependant.

Good string! To add to Jay's list,
* skin fruit (easy to store in any cooler than has room or needs no refrigeration if you please) - oranges, bananas, etc. * nuts like almonds, pistachios (good sources of protein and portable) * dried fruit for bringing into Centeroo * hotdogs/precooked brats (we grilled out several times last year; didn't mind the hassle, and after a long day in the sun, both were d**n tasty and required no cleanup) * individual-sized chips (not healthy at all but yummy at any time of day or night, plus full of sodium, which normally is bad but with this much sweating, I figure I can rationalize a little extra salt! Chee-tos are my fave)
Plus one of our group is an awesome cook,and last year he made jamaican jerk chicken skewers. We had to grill them the first or second night, but they were sooo good. Hopefully we can talk him into making a batch this year.
I pre-chop all my veggies before leaving and place them in small ziplock bags. It makes cooking a lot easier without having to get everything cleaned up and prepped. Just open the bags, add some butter, or bacon grease (heh-heh), and saute away!
actually a lot of people do eat the cicadas...def. not forme.
i plan on cooking my group a feast on thursday when we get in. Marinated teriyaki chicken breasts, ginger sausage, corn on the cob, some other veggies, beers for the drinkers, ice-t for the non drinkers maybe a nice breakfast on friday morning (eggs, toast, cereal, coffee) to get some energy for the day. maybe some snoochie boochies before hand to get the appetite going..
chicken lou mein make ramen noodles, throw away flavor packet. add canned chicken and some soy sause. veggies too if you like em. (im not much of a cooked veggie eater)
and you can never go wrong with fruit...oranges apples bananas
im also taking some fresh pre cut veggies and some dip. you know celery, carrots, shrooms
i guess the second 2 arent really meals, but i could live of them.

My friend who made the jamaican chicken skewers is actually planning on cooking up some Shanghai Cicada Delight. Ugh, I wonder if I"ll have to try one. Here's his recipe:
1. Boil the cicadas and anises in salted rice wine for five minutes, then remove the cicadas. 2. Sauté the mashed garlic, adding water and rice wine to make a paste. 3. Deep-fry the cicadas, then skewer them with bamboo picks. Arrange them on a plate with the turnip greens, celery, and garlic paste to look like the cicadas are climbing out of a mud pie onto green foliage. Bon appetit!
Whenever I go camping, I always nuke my meat for kabobs before I leave. Then I put them in a ziploc bag with marinade of barbeque sauce. They cook up fast, and you can be sure your meat is thoroughly cooked.
I also make up Rice-a-roni and noodle dishes, put them in plastic containers, and then transfer them to an empty pot pie tin with foil over it. Then I put them in a shallow pan with water and boil. This heats them up quickly, and they're tasty too.
I cook pasta to aldente ahead of time as well. Then I put a little oil in so it doesn't stick together. It boils up fast in some water to make a quick meal.
Spanish Rice 1 can of tomatoe sauce fill same can with rice fill same can 3/4 full with water
add spices and veggies if you want and let cook mmmm
Dessert very simple can of fruit (apricots are my favorite) open can but leave top on heat and mmmmmm delicious late night snack or dessert. and the warm fruit juice ahhhh
For sure were taking the staple food and meals, but were going to add things like cous cous salad or tabouleh which can be made in advance and it's a great light meal no cooking.
Here's a tip if you want to bring eggs scramble them before hand and store in a squeeze bottle then you won't have to worry about a mess or hassle just squeeze in to the pan.
Great idea on the eggs, thanks! Last year, breakfast was about the only full meal we had, just sandwiches & stuff throughout the day. Omelettes, bacon and biscuits & gravy every morning, mmmmm!
* A note on cicada consumption: Anyone with a shellfish allergy should definitely avoid them.
Fresh melon. Purchase cantalopes just before leaving, keep them out of the sun, and ice down one every day. Cantalope is wonderfully refreshing and easier to deal with than a watermelon.
Country ham and egg sandwiches. I generally toast English muffins directly on the grill. Country ham is precooked and really doesn't need refrigeration; I buy the biscuit size slices and they cook in just a sec. A scramblefried egg and you are good for the day...or the latenight.
Gatorade. I understand from my friends on Madison Avenue that Gatorade is thirst aid...for that deep-down body thirst. Nowhere in the world will you experience more deep-down body thirst than at this, the third iteration of Bonnaroo. Citrus cooler for me, thanks.
Sensible pounding. I don't drink, but I know many do and where better than a place where you can roll in your own spew and there is STILL someone whose nastier than you are. But if you want to maintain...if you want to feel that Trey love full force after a long weekend...then alternate. One beer, one water. I realize that this isn't a recipe. More like a prescription.
Finally, my secret guilty pleasure would be graham cracker sticks (a relatively new cookie phenomenon) and a dipping jar of Nutella. Chocolate won't last at bonnaroo, but the hazelnut chocolove will survive just fine. Like George Zimmer, I guarantee it.

GREAT suggestions from so many of you!
A little update on our own menu prep, in case it gives any of you any more ideas:
Breakfasts:
--Single serve boxes of sugary cereals--Froot Loops, Sugar Smacks, etc. All the crap I don't usually eat at home. (Dibs on the Cocoa Krispies!) --Granola --Pedialyte and/or Gatorade --Milk
Lunches:
--Not 100% on this yet. We may just forage in the venue/lots. May bring stuff for PB&J or cold cuts. Light and simple.
Suppers:
--As mentioned earlier, Jay's Greek Mayhem (with extra yogurt available for those who indudge in some of the more stomach-cramping treats the lot has to offer ) --Pasta w/red --Grilled cheese sandwiches
Misc. midnight munchies:
--Cora's Wicked Awesome Appalachian Trail Mix (A pound of plain M&M's, a can of cashews, a box of raisins, and a smallish box of corn or rice chex. Mix all. Eat by the handful.) --Jerkey --Pepperoni, cheese, crackers, hummus --Melons (pre-cut canteloupe in the cooler, and a whole watermelon or two to carve up on the tailgate when the mood strikes.)
Drinks:
--Gatorate powder (so you can mix it 1/2 strength) --2 qts. Pedialyte (for those rough mornings) --Diet Coke --Water, water, water, water, water, water --Beer --"Other"

Half power seems to have a better level of sugars and electrolytes for rehydrating yourself. Especially if you're like me and you put away that first pint in one long gulp and then go through another quart in the next few minutes.
Essentially, full-strength is so sweet that you don't seem to want to drink as much of the total liquid. Half-strength seems to replace the electrolytes you lose sweating while encouraging you to keep drinking--thus replacing more fluid (which is the most important part, after all).
It seemed to work really, really well for me when I was backpacking for a week last summer. Some plain water. Some half-strength Gatorade. I guess we kind of alternated.
I've seen some physiological explanation for all this, but I can't find it now.
Lunch: whatever vendor I am closest to Beer Absolut Citron reefers blotters
Dinner Thursday night: 2 lbs of New Zealand lambchops grilled on my Coleman stove bag of potato chips Bottle of Syrah (yes, I know merlot would go better with lamb, but I prefer Syrah in the summer months) reefers blotters
Dinner every other night: Whatever vendor I am closest to beer Absolut Citron Shrooms, I hope
Snacks: peanuts, trail mix, beef and turkey jerky, energy bars, blotter acid, beer, bourbon, Absolut Citron
Man, those are some great food ideas....Love the pre-mix egg thing!!
We are doing the full breakfast,plus yogurt and fruit, and of course, to start the day right...champagne with strawberries, mimosas, and a bloody Mary,too!
Lunch will be Salads:Carrot/Raisin, Green bean and tomato,ginger slaw,veggies and dip, cantaloupe pre-sliced and dressed with honey and lime,mediterranian cous cous
Dinner is alittle more difficult. We are eating the more difficult stuff early and leaving the hot dogs and gumbo for the last two night, but one night is chicken skewers with frozen sweet potato cubes,pineapple, green pepper: and Ham kabobs with whole canned potatoes,onion and peppers slathered with teriyaki sauce.
Packing in dry ice keeps things frozen...we are taking a case of "pop sticks"(like popcicles) to freeze on the dry ice. Also, freeze gallon milk jugs of water and pack in the dry ice and you will have ice to break up all weekend to cool the cold beers!!
Still thinking up interesting lunch options. I get sick of deli sandwiches really quick, so PB&J may get more love than turkey or ham. I like the idea of salads; I bet a bag of salad mix and a some olive oil and lime would travel OK. Add some pre-toasted walnuts or almonds and maybe a small can of mandarin oranges to complete it. Also love the Cora's trail mix idea.
Just for my clarification, when you drink the Gatorade half power stuff, you just use the powder and add half the recommended amount on the canister? Sorry if I seem dumb, just when everyone was referring to it like it was second nature it was like it was something that is sold that I don't know about.

My uncle has enough MREs (pre-packaged army food) left over from desert storm to feed a family of 3 for 2 years in the barn. I may hit him up for enough to feed me and the wife for 4 days.
