I think my v fave part of Truevine's episode was where he tried to claim that anyone who has issues with bitcoin's huge** climate impact/carbon footprint must just not know what they're talking about.
** Btw, for anyone curious -- just one single Bitcoin transaction burns something like 2300 kilowatt hours of electricity. To translate that to a comparison that makes it more relatable - that's enough to power a typical US household for like 75 days. PER SINGLE TRANSACTION
but truevine is right; I prob just need to research it better :/ not like I work in the environmental realm for my full-time job or anything
P.S. not saying bitcoin shouldn't exist or people shouldn't use it. but to claim that any people who perceives its significant enviro impact are the ones who need to do their research.......nahhhhh
I'm excited to listen to this cause I am a strong supporter of both bitcoin and obv environment/climate stuff. I'm aware of the massive energy requirement and think its worth it in spite of that, especially if the energy sources are mostly or all renewable. Anyways I'll comment more after I listen

i don't necessarily disagree with this part.
it is the way he talked about it lol. you'll see.....
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
Don't really see how a currency can be "worth it" despite astronomical transaction costs, given the whole point of currency is to be spent freely.
Store of value / decentralized deflationary sound money is what Bitcoin is good for. There is no other asset where supply can't be increased as demand increases practically speaking (besides land on Earth). And the immense energy input is what makes the network so secure. If you have to have nations worth of energy to topple the network, its probably not going to happen. Also I'd be curious to know how much energy our current global financial system + all banks + all other related infrastructure demand. As for the transaction costs, the future will probably not entail BTC as the everyday currency. It would (maybe) be a settlement layer where many things can be written to the blockchain at once while typical transaction would happen on a much faster and cheaper layer. I'm not going to die on a hill talking about this, but in this inflationary environment I think its something worth holding onto. Referring only to bitcoin here, not any other cryptocurrency.

BTC was (is maybe, TBD on that) the greatest wealth creation event in the last 50 years. if you were in on it, most people will make up whatever story they want to make themselves feel ok about being in on it. if you weren't, you wont.

i'm bored and messing around with the options on that quiz and i think this is my favorite so far:
You’ve Read Many “Berenstain Bears” Books
Awesome. You’ve read so many Berenstain Bears books! You’ve read all the classic Berenstain Bears books, like The Berenstain Bears Shoot Down The Goodyear Blimp For A Good Reason, and you’ve also read many of the lesser-known hits, like The Berenstain Bears Badly Misinterpret The Quran. Nice!

I think it’s time we pull out the big guns and threaten to remove People of Inforoo from Spotify. Losing Neil Young and Joni Mitchell is one thing, but maybe the stakes need to be raised for real.

Do we really want to be responsible for bankrupting Spotify completely? Maybe so, maybe so.
Almost finished with Rooloo! They have all been as intriguing as I had hoped. I love the diversity of interests and expertises we have on this board.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
