Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I am behind… but am still enjoying these. I keep trying to imagine the faces with the voices. Great interviews, so far, Silver!
I am friends with several Inforoo folks, but none that have been interviewed, so far. I clearly am going to have to return to Bonnaroo soon and attend brunch. Do they have an elderly man area at Roo for the 40+? 👨🦳

Friends, by popular demand, this week I will be flipping the script and interviewing People of Inforoo’s erstwhile host for his very own episode of the podcast.
I’ll be working up my James Lipton/Inside the Actors Studio survey prior to recording, by I know some of y’all know Silver Surfer a lot better than I do, so please feel free to slide into my DMs with embarrassing stories and deeply personal, and perhaps even uncomfortably erotic, questions I should toss his way, so we can really get to know the man behind the legend.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

listening to 3post1jack1 now and I'm totally in agreement with you on the headphones/audiophile situation. A friend of mine is down that rabbit hole with the DACs, headphones and conferences/meetups. I started to go along with it but priced myself out before I even got started. lol I will say that listening to properly mastered lossless music on a good setup is amazing!

oh yeah it's a whole thing. i wonder if i ever crossed paths with your friend? it's a surprisingly big community so maybe not.
but i'm pretty much out of the headphone thing now. when listening to music at home i'm speakers 99% of the time. biggest game changer for me was finding the JBL LSR305 and LSR308 speakers. best value in audio IMO, just need a preamp to control the volume and you've got incredible sound. i have the LSR305s on my desk and the LSR308s on top of my vinyl shelves to my left. those speakers ended the chase for me.

Funny you said that I have the 305's on my desk with the matching sub on the floor lol. I have them connected to my phono amp and my computer for all my listening needs. They're fantastic and the sub kicks hard!

hell yeah! that's awesome. i've thought about getting the sub but right now i live in a condo, so subs are a no go. glad to hear it kicks hard.

has speaker tech come super far in the last decade? I'm still using the Polk TSi100 bookshelf speakers. They still sound pretty good, but I've been wondering if it's time to upgrade

3post1jack1 might have better info, but I'd say if you like the way they sound then placement is probably the most important thing. However if you feel they are lacking in bass or clarity then upgrade until you're happy.
The JBL 305's are a great bang for buck tho, since they're pretty popular you can find them used at a lot of places. My setup was all open box from Guitar Center with 0% financing.

the lsr305 came out in 2013 if my googling is correct. really a simple design with inexpensive parts that just works well.
the biggest advances in speakers over the past decade has probably been room correction software. stuff like dirac can do pretty impressive things. can't make a bad room sound good but can make a good room sound very good kind of thing. i don't run it this is just based on stuff i've read.
i listen to my LSR305s in near field so the room has less of an effect. my LSR308s are facing my bed behind me in my office/guest bedroom. i prefer them to the LSR305s, people say the midrange isn't as good but i just love a big woofer making big sound. the goal of a lot of audiophile speakers is to make your speakers sound like unamplified music. so like the pluck of an acoustic guitar coming out of your speakers sounds like if someone was in the room with you plucking an acoustic guitar. but what I want my music to sound like is what i hear live, which is amplified music. so to make that happen i need big woofers like you have at a show.
like if i really were to upgrade i'd buy these fucking things. 12" woofer that's whats up. love how they describe them as a "compact studio monitor" lol.

Dang, those are beasts! but not a bad price for the pair considering you'll have them until you die.

true, but you also kind of have to get the matching integrated amp right*? so thats another $3,000:
