There was an interview with Founders about this in the CT Post behind a paywall, but I managed to copy and paste. Here were some key points:
* They're eventually going to have two festivals, one jam-focused and one more multi-genre, on back-to-back weekends, but the jam festival won't happen until 2023. * There will be 24 acts over the two days, and no overlapping sets at all. * Capacity will be 30,000-35,000 * There will be a kick-off concert the Friday before featuring a 25th artist. * Target demographic will be late 20s to late 50s (interesting sidebar here - the target demo for GovBall is noted at 15 to 25, so I'm guessing we won't be seeing an age restriction in the near future). * Jordan Wolowitz says "no genre is off-limits," but they mention no metal on this year’s lineup. * Lineup and ticket on-sale mid-January.

Yeah, that occurred to me, too. They very obviously go out of their way to say in the interview HEY IT’S NOT GATHERING OF THE VIBES ALL OVER AGAIN WE SWEAR.

Happy to see a festival returning to my birth city haha. This looks like it's around the same weekend as Sea Hear Now.
The Gov Ball clues plus their quote essentially is a nail in the coffin for me for that festival (especially after this past year). Glad to see some alternative programming.

I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed by this nugget:
"Illustrative talent examples are Stevie Nicks, Gary Clark Jr., James Taylor, John Fogerty, Santana, Leon Bridges, Eddie Vedder, Lionel Richie, Earth Wind & Fire and Mavis Staples."
I know those are just hypotheticals, but I was hoping more for an east coast Just Like Heaven or This Ain't No Picnic than an east coast Bottle Rock, which is what the contract makes this sound like. I'll still be keeping an eye on it, though - could make a decent back-to-back with Sea.Hear.Now for my middle-aged ass.

Wasn't Sound on Sound the name of the indie Austin festival that went under a few years ago? Did they buy that company or name or what, kind of confusing.

That jam fest might as well be Vibes 2.0
I went to Vibes the year with the 100+ degree weather. Didn't like it. Didn't go back.

Love the idea of doing back-to-back weekends with a different focus each weekend. If you're not as big as the five largest U.S. festivals, you can't be as musically diverse as them and expect to keep everyone happy with only 1-2 music stages running at any given moment.
Was fine with this being a bottle rocket east till I saw the bottle rocket lineup. Still pumped to have anything in ct.
I think bottlerocket is well curated for what it’s supposed to be…a little something for everyone geared towards an older audience which is what you’re gonna get here

Agreed. That Bottlerock lineup would be enough for me and my significant other in or late 30s/early 40s to go as we wouldnt love it overall but we'd both has stuff to see even though we like different genres. GOTV was my first fest and I'd go back to the area for sure.

I have never seen Dave Matthews Band perform and actually have some small amount of affection for some of their '90s output - not like I had "Ants Marching" on repeat, or anything, but I maybe wouldn't change the station if "Satellite" was played. Would I enjoy a DMB festival set? Is it worth seeing just once?

It's just Dave & Tim, always had a good time with them in the past, but it's a diff vibe from DMB for sure

I have seen Dave once at bonnaroo 2010 and it was fun. Going to rewatch lady bird to get hyped up lol.
