Tomorrow’s stack (via Stereogum)
• Taylor Swift - Midnights • Arctic Monkeys - The Car • Dry Cleaning - Stumpwork • Dawn Richard & Spencer Zahn - Pigments • Carly Rae Jepsen - The Loneliest Time • Tegan And Sara - Crybaby • Archers Of Loaf - Reason In Decline • Frankie Cosmos - Inner World Peace • Nick Hakim - Cometa • Wiki & Subjxct 5 - Cold Cuts • The Soft Pink Truth - Is It Going To Get Any Deeper Than This? • Circuit des Yeux & Claire Rousay - Sunset Poem • Exhumed - To The Dead • Dave Harrington & Tim Mislock - Hollywood Visit • Goat - Oh Death • Alice Boman - The Space Between • The Otolith - Folium Limina
So fucking stoked on The Otolith, it’s not even funny. It’s 4/5 of SubRosa playing female fronted Doom style metal with a violin. Think heavier GY!BE with vocals or if Windhand tried to play post rock. Pretty sure sang_xcx has a boner off that description alone.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Sheesh just now realizing it's about time to start making year end lists
And I come to the realisation that I've barely listened to any music this year oops. Is this me getting older, or me slowly getting bored of music..
Maybe a bit of both. I go in waves, and those waves have become increasingly noticeable as I've gotten older. There will be some months where I listen to 20 new albums and others where I listen to one or two. This has been a lighter year for new music for me also.
I will say though that I've almost completely stopped listening to new singles unless they come up on a playlist or something.

I’m only a little behind on listening to new releases compared to last year but I’ve noticed that I basically don’t listen to older albums anymore, especially if I’ve never listened to them before. That’s been my biggest drop off, kinda sucks.

A few years ago I challenged myself to listen to every album in that “1001 Albums To Hear Before You Die” book in a year.
I tried to do about 4 or 5 albums a day and took like 10 months. It was tedious af but I’m glad I did it as there was a definite itch scratched. It’s nice as you don’t have to think much about what to listen to and you get to do a deep dive into some records you should hear.
I may be in the minority but as I've gotten older, I've actually listened to music more often. Just come to accept the fact that discovering new music is something I'll always be passionate about and could never envision getting "bored" of it.

bored, no, but I don't have the opportunity to listen to music at work

Yeah, opportunity/time is a whole other factor that makes it difficult for some. I can't listen at work either but I have such a long daily commute, I use that time to listen to a lot. The one and only positive aspect of long commutes.

that thing killed me, it was so depressing to like keep opening the app and seeing the backlog of stuff I missed/skipped/didn't review
