I've really been slacking on listening to new shit in the past several months. I should really use this planner I bought last year, eh?
Can I officially change my vote to this?
Yard Act - The Overload
Because fuck, man.
Yeah I admittedly put my vote in before I listened to this and wish I didn't. Won't change my vote cause I still like my vote, but this one may have more longevity come AOTY-list time.

January was a great start to the year with music, but Pinegrove slightly edged out Silvana & Bonobo for me--all my HMs listed below are great, though, and I'll be revisiting.

Not that these votes have any real meaning on anything but I propose we institute Ranked Choice Voting
Excellent idea, a monthly top 5 seems reasonable and could easily be weighted
100% agree, because it will also help force me to listen to more newly released albums (some months I definitely slack!) since I know that I'll need to come up with a top 5 that actually matters more than just listing a few HMs haha.

I was saying to a friend the other day it was less of a question of if Big Thief was getting Best New Music or not, and moreso a question of if they score above or below a 9. Lo and behold, I was right on the money

I'm gonna give the new Big Thief a try, but past albums have not really blown me away. Not all music's for everybody, but maybe third time's the charm. I tried to see them at Forecastle in 2017 and it was so damn hot and the songs were so slow, it was basically torture. Is that looming whenever I try to listen now? idk.
