I had been wondering if Wordle was going to turn out to be some sort of social experiment. I had thought maybe the whole βitβs just a game I made my partnerβ was a little white lie, and something else would be revealed. The creator is the guy behind Reddit Place (which I remember) and Reddit Button (which I donβt) β theyβre linked on his main page.
I guess the NYT purchase settles that and I can shelve my conspiracy theories.

I mean, good for Wardle. He made something cool and is getting rewarded for it.
I dunno. The Times fucks with it too much, people will just move on - I donβt feel like Wordle is a un-live-withoutable for most folks. It does make me wonder whether the spin-offs will be able to continue, though.
I could also see them doing away with the "one per day" thing.
I dunno. The collective daily experience is kinda the whole reason people give a shit. Kill that, and the game will lose a lot of its appeal.
