Still need to see The Fountain and Noah.
I love The Fountain. It legit made me reconsider my fear of mortality. I didn’t get over it, but it’s the closest I’ve come, so…
The score kicks ass, too.
I forgot we were discussing movies and not bonnaroo and was seriously concerned about what wookery you'd witnessed at the fountain that made you question mortality
Lemme know what you think of it. I watched it on a whiff once and was glued to my screen. Didn't know what to expect but couldn't stop thinking about it for a long time afterwards.
not to add to movie talk in the roo thread but wow I'm so surprised at this take. I'll never watch it again bc it was disturbing but it was really well done.
i get what it was trying to do, i just... think it could've done it better by not being so heavy handed and dragging it out sooo much
Raw, and I’m thinking of ending things are the ones I haven’t seen, I’ll add em to the list thanks! Absolutely loved Mandy and liked Goodnight Mommy. The Goodnight Mommy Temake is the worst movie I saw this year by a mile
Didn’t you hear. Bonnaroo is going back to music that sells per the owl. Tame is out.
Yes. This means DMB is in.
I can confirm this. My source said it was between Tame and DMB. They had a meeting, Festive Owl walked in, in an owl suit. Pointed at DMB and chirped “sells” and walked out.
Raw. Goodnight Mommy (OG). The Endless. Mandy. I'm Thinking of Ending Things. House of the Devil. Cube (pretty dumb but bizarre & fun nonetheless).
These ones are weird in different ways, tbf.
They're the ones that come to mind immediately. Can think of some others.

Is it still a possibility that Odesza will be billed the same as in 2019?
Yes, but a small one. The hope would be that when Owl said "they are a top 3 name on the poster" that he is just referring to top three of their day. The reason this has an outside chance of being possible is because we all know there is no traditional poster anymore. Its always by day. And people who aren't on inforoo are uncareful about their definitions of headliners. Lumineers said they headlined Bonnaroo. Even insider had a non-top-3-only definition of headliners.
It's best to assume they are first on their day though and be pleasantly surprised if the less than 15% chance hits and they are 2 on their day.
I was already a huge fan of The Fountain, but then I saw the music video of the song Doomsday by the band Architects who are a post nu-metal band from East Sussex. Now, I'm not here to sell you on how the song kicks in and is awesome right away, I'm not here to talk about that riff, the symbols spinning, or how hard the drummer is hitting the drums; I'm here to talk about how the music is so hard and that guy is just sitting there meditating, then reaches out and touches the expanding thing and then looks around like woah, which leads to my main point about how cool it is that how on the last "yeah" scream when everything goes crazy, the meditating guy becomes Hugh Jackman in Darron Arronofskys The Fountain.
If we have Kendrick / Odesza we'd expect the last headlining act to be rock and/or country, with a preference towards legacy. I'd think Green Day, Tame, DMB, Smashing Pumpkins, (maybe) Nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam, Queens of the Stone Age would all fit the bill. Green Day seems less likely with paramore sub-headlining already but you never know. Tame isn't really legacy but they get a pass for how heavy Tame demand is for the farm (plus itd fit the psychedelic rock slot TOOL left in 2022). DMB is just the right amount of disappointing that makes me think its them. Killers/Muse played too recently I'd hope to be playing again.
Another note is that I'd probably cross off any Gen Z acts as that third headliner because the top line isnt digging too far to appeal to the older side of the crowd as is. Dua Lipa, SZA, Doja, Megan, Billie, Harry Styles could all probably be crossed off I'd think. Im thinking an act that had to have a presence anytime from the 70s->early 2000s.

Also Franz Ferdinand is probably billed relatively high. Last time was 2007? They were #10 overall. Not sure if they'll receive similar billing as 15 years ago tho.

The original Goodnight Mommy goes hard. I loved it but others in my friend group thought it was a little too...extreme. I would add Possessor to this list. Its wild.
