Giving All Them Witches a shot right now, pretty whelmed by it but they did just announce a Richmond date so if I decide to buy a Roo ticket then maybe I’ll go to that too to get a better feel for it

theyre pretty good live, I went into their show here without doing a real dive into their music but they were good
I know they’ve been mentioned a few times already, but Weval seems like a really good booking. The kind of electronic music that Bonnaroo hasn’t had in like 5 years. I wonder if they would play the other? Doesn’t seem like something for that crowd but idk what their live show is like
EDIT: damn their live show looks so awesome
It seems like it's unclear weather we will get the full band or this live:
Doing a little investigation... it seems like there are only 5 additional Other Stage acts on Thursday. 7 were scheduled in 2021. That makes me feel like they will be on The Other. They are also the lowest name of the Other Candidate acts, meaning they may open it from 7:45 - 8:45.
If Weval end's up on the other, I don't believe that completely rules out drums and shit. In 2018, Justin Jay's Fantastic Voyage opened up The other on Thursday from 7:45 - 8:45 and had the following set up:
Don't know how to investigate any further. Maybe TOSTIE can help.
Interesting. With the full band I am totally intigued...

They are amazing live. Nashville boys. We hit every show here.

I’ve grown to really love All Them Witches over the past few years
Their combination of bluesy heavy psych with the almost soulful vocals hits the right sweet spots for me. Favorite record of theirs is probably Sleeping Through the War with ATW a close second
They were great at Roo 2019
EDIT: I don’t know if this is a valid comparison but for me they’re kind of a stoner metal White Denim (a band I also love)

welcome to the Weval Stan Club.
I've had some tracks of their saved and in rotation for a while, but I'm digging deeper into them than before now that they're on the lineup, and it is a top 5 set for me if I go, without a doubt.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

I’m liking more from Sleeping Through The War than Nothing As The Ideal, if the set swings more bluesy I’m interested

i'd heard that barely anyone saw the stone roses at coachella. they must have had a great publicist to convince coachella they could headline let alone having any interest in that in america

Such a strange booking, I'd love to see Blur do some more US shows though.

same. i don't think they'd ever headline a festival here again but i could see a us tour. they're just so much bigger in europe that they aren't as big of a draw in the us
I only started lurking on this forum in about 2018 (2017 was my first roo and hooked ever since). I’m curious what the initial reaction was to some objectively excellent lineups like 2013 or 2014? Was it negative as well or were people overall pumped?

IIRC 2013 was received positively. 2014 was a fucking mess because of Kanye. Really strong feelings about that booking.

thanks for input, that makes sense. Insanity to me to think that 2014 would be received negatively at all. Elton, frank ocean, flaming lips…thing is a work of art in my opinion

this is what i remember. people liked the 2014 lineup but debated whether kanye coming back was a good thing

yeah as death cab said overall i'm remembering 2014 was well received, but i'm unsure because my memories are drowned out by all the kanye drama.
i'm not going to post posters to take up message board space but bonnaroo had better headliners than coachella from 2013 to 2015.
2013: bonnaroo - paul mccartney, mumford and sons (replaced by jack johnson last minute), tom petty and the heartbreakers, bjork
coachella: the stone roses, blur, phoenix, red hot chili peppers
2014: bonnaroo: elton john, kanye west, jack white
coachella: outkast, muse, arcade fire
2015: bonnaroo: billy joel, mumford and sons, deadmau5, kendrick lamar
coachella: ac/dc, jack white, drake
Disagree on 15. AC/DC > Joel Jack > Mumf + Deadmau5 Drake < Kendrick
You could prob include The Weeknd for Coach too if you’re including Kenny, and that seals the deal imo
i think you're right on this one. i was thinking in my head that billy joel is a bit more exciting legacy booking but i'd rather see ac/dc and the billy joel roo show was pretty ok

Tbh I care as much about seeing J Cole as I do Harry Styles
Billie has played 2 of the last 4 bonnaroos right?
Even if Kanye’s show is all classics there’s so much about him that feels icky to support in 2022. Propping up a serial rapist in Marilyn Manson just to be controversial is a bridge too far even if you’ve forgiven him for the MAGA bullshit and subsequent presidential run

i'm going to go out on a limb and say bonnaroo 2016's headliners were better than coachella's. my main reason being that calvin harris was booked as a headliner at coachella
bonnaroo: pearl jam, dead and co, lcd soundsystem
coachella: guns n roses, lcd soundsystem, calvin harris
