Going to this fest was really last minute for me. My GF had been planning in since it got announced but I was always on the fence as a lot of the music isn't my style and wasn't sure I could fit both Psycho Vegas and this within a few months. But I made it happen for her sake and I'm happy I did as she was ready to head home after Saturday got canceled. Managed to convince her to stick through with it and we had a blast. You could feel the fest vibe everywhere in Vegas. Fremont was bonkers with emo fans the Saturday night after it got canceled. I know a lot of people will complain for the cancellation which I get but they really made an effort for the fest to be as safe as possible. There would have been an insane crowd crush if they didn't cut off the Black stage pit with a separate entrance and keep the front Pink stage for VIP (as much as I'm hating this trend). I still don't know why Paramore and BMTH stopped their songs because of an incident in the crowds but they were keeping an eye out at least. All of it felt like an orchestrated effort to be as anti-Astroworld as possible.
Positives:
The crowd. Despite a few shitty eggs, everyone was great. We all bonded waiting for a bathroom and of course, the fall out from Saturday. The singalongs were great too.
Rotating stages was an insane success. For those camped out in the front, they had just back to back sets of their favorite music. Barely any delays too.
Location was perfect. We stayed at the Sahara so being able to just walk straight over and back was huge. Expensive, sure but splitting a room with a few friends probably would have been way cheaper.
The layout was really easy to maneuver. Nothing took too long to find and only took as long because of the sheer volume of people there. You could easily go from one end of the fest to the other in less than 5-7 mins.
Negatives:
Food and merch lines. Merch was impossible to get to after 1pm. Managed to snag some shirts after MCR but no luck on hoodies. Waited well over an hour for chicken tenders and fries only for them to give me a shittier deal (2 tenders/fries for $40 instead of a basket of tenders and basket of fries for $30) to 'save food for everyone else'. Clearly just trying to make an extra buck as who cares if you sell out. It's a one day fest.
Early sound issues. Mayday Parade sounded like complete ass while Boys Like Girls had a way louder sound. That quickly got fixed for the headliners but the Black Stage was real hit or miss early on.
Very few places to sit. It's minor but with so much concrete, put some more picnic tables out there. Especially if you're expecting 50k+ people.
VIP areas. I am so sick of this trend already. The entire front of the Pink stage for just VIP is great for safety but absolutely terrible for anyone performing before 4pm. Wolf Alice crowd was so sad despite being one of the most current critically acclaimed acts on the entire bill.
Overall, this was a great first edition for a fest. Shorter sets for this music is the way to go but I would have only wished for two days to be around fewer people. It's the first fest in awhile that I could feel it being a sell out crowd. With next year being all pop punk, the shorter sets will come in even more clutch. As was mentioned earlier in this thread, it's wild how badly GV fumbled the MCR bag and what followed.

I did find it funny to say that while playing a festival that cost $250+ to attend with crazy drink prices and in Vegas that costs $500 a night hotel. I was reading lots of comments from people who were refinancing their car or taking out a mortgage just to attend.

My GF is in some of those WWWY FB groups and showed me some of those posts. After experiencing those crowds, I 100% believe those posts for being real. They had no shame in being completely honest in what it took for them to go to the show.
Oh theres no way people weren't forking over mad money for this weekend. After the stubhub market dried up there were lots of people offering their refund money plus cash on top of that to get s ticket for yesterday. Just a perfect storm overall from january til now.
From what I’m reading, a LOT of people got engaged and/or married either at the fest or during people’s stay in Vegas. This festival was really important to people.
Two people got engaged on my flight. I hope they at least stayed for Sunday if their Saturday got cancelled.
The event was less of a music festival for people and more like a pilgrimage for like-minded people, a lot of which were made fun of for liking this music or outsiders growing up. I mean this as a massive compliment, but the only other thing I could compare it to is Gathering of the Juggalos. Met a ton of people from all over the world Saturday after the cancellation who looked at it as life or death in terms of figuring out logistics to get in on Sunday.
I was/am pretty devastated we couldn't make it work on Sunday but had probably seen 90% of the bands an average of 2.5 times each, so we couldn't justify moving things around today we had to in order to make it work, but a lot of people were viewing it like they'd do whatever they had to do to make it work.
Yeah, it felt like the old warped days, just on a larger scale. Everyone wanted to have a good time and lots of sing alongs. There were a few times on the screens they showed people in tears during songs. During Anberlin a girl tapped me on the shoulder and asked if she could be on the rail for a song. I obliged and got the biggest hug and thank you's. Thats what its about. Just wish I couldve documented it my way and gotten the spirit in photos for everyone. Didnt see many photographers overall which was a surprise. I saw no reason why they wouldnt have wanted as many people as possible covering this. But I guess they still want image control.

yea i mean even with a masters i wont be able to afford a studio in my city so we are pretty fucked. i’m only able to do as much as i am because i live at home and payments for school havent started up

I have two types of friends who bought tickets to 2023: Ones who are flush with cash, and others who are going to be people like that $29 girl. I wanted to jump on tickets for 2023 BADLY but that would be my trip for the year. The inflation pricing is out of control.

Oh man, what happened? I got a sober show in June about a month after his walk-off incident in Houston, but I'm seeing him again tomorrow and I'm waiting with bated breath about which Conor I'm getting. (looking at some of the recent setlist inclusions, I very much want the show to happen)

He was shitfaced. They came out and started playing but the second Conor opened his mouth in between songs you knew it was gonna be terrible. People were just confused as hell. He kept saying he didnt care if you had heard of em or not. Band was tight, but Conor was a mess.

I saw some short clips but they were kinda far back. I'm worried. Baby momma said they really enjoyed the show but that he seemed drunk, but was also kinda far back.

I didn't know a single BMTH song before the fest. Wasn't planning on seeing their set, but didn't want to risk not getting back in the GA pit for Paramore. I really enjoyed them. Best production of the day too

Smart move. They cut off entry after their set from what people said.
So theres at least one tweak to the grounds in that theyre adding a merch booth outside the festival which will be open on friday and saturday of course. Hopefully that cuts down on the mess inside. Also its confirmed merch goes up Oct 30th online.
