It is! We should talk about what Jortles idea looks like, maybe after the game.
What I'm thinking is that Mafia submits a whack before a runoff deadline. After that runoff deadline passes, the whack is announced coinciding with the next runoff beginning. The inspector then has a guess to make before the end of that current runoff (and is told after that runoff ends).
As a counterweight to the mafia whack whenever, the inspector still gets the night guess, but the mafia does not get the night whack.
My only concern is that inspector getting a midday guess and a night guess is a little overpowered, but hard to predict how it’ll play out unless we try it

I was just thinking out loud. We could just substitute the night guess for the day guess after the mafia initiate the day whack. Could inspector still wait until night to guess?

almost seems like they don’t need an given name? If they survive one round they will have info on 3 people, right? That’s a lot of info if the inspector picks well

I’d say deadline just to keep it uniform from a reffing perspective.
