Gotta go with Dallas on principle bc a team with a losing record not only being in the playoffs but also getting a home game is dumb.
The divisions make it still relevant in the NFC. You don’t wonder if after the wildcard games the best record shouldn’t get the next home game. Maher blowing those XP’s
Lets just do away with conferences and just do top 14 overall and all neutral site games. Nfl would love that.

Divisions guaranteeing home field is basically indefensible and both of the other NFC games should have been yesterday so that the Niners wouldn't have two extra days of rest, but oh well. Team plays on Thanksgiving on a short week most years.
Go Cowboys! 🤠
Hope this is Tom's last playoff game. That would be nice after all these years of him owning us.

I don’t think it’s indefensible. NFL has been that way since probably merger or first realignment after. So it’s tradition. I’m not saying it’s right or wrong. A lot of what they do for future scheduling, playoffs is based on importance of the division more so than MLB or NBA.

Three NFC East teams in the final four of the conference but let's give an 8-9 team a home game over one of them because they won the South. I don't think that's cool. Making sure one gets in makes sense because of the way they schedule but also kind of a bummer the Lions didn't make the playoffs at 9-8 either.

We got fucked on that shit against the Seahawks 10 years ago having to play them there and took the ass whipping. I don’t have emotion in the argument. I can see both sides.
I’ve said it before but winning your division should get you into the playoffs only. Seeding should then be solely based on record. Tampa should have been the 7 seed and played on the road.
They are +340 Moneyline on Fan Duel and +8.5 on the spread. If you think they will win, you should think about cashing in on that. It's the most one-sided game of the 4 as of now (and presumably will still be at kickoff).
The rest
Giants @ Eagles - Eagles -7.5 spread and -350 Moneyline; Giants +7.5 and +275

On its surface, this coming weekend feels like it should be an easy choice for the favorite to win in all games which means ones of them definitely will not win. I would be good with the Jags getting the upset. I feel like the Giants deserve better than -7.5 but what do I know?

If I were a betting man I'd parlay Jags and Giants moneyline. Both those teams are fun and fired up and the Chiefs and Eagles are coming off sleepy bye weeks
Well that sucked. Didn't have high hopes for a win, but that was embarrassing. Leftwich is out as OC already. Congrats piggy pablo! Good luck next week in SF.

Don't think that was all on Leftwich, but I get the choice. I was thinking about it in the background this morning, and I realized that last night was weird for me bc they lost partially bc of Tom Brady. That's just not something I am used to thinking about Brady in the playoffs.

That's fine that you've said this before. Lots of people have. The NFL doesn't agree. And pretty much what they say is the only thing that matters - for better or worse.

I agree, not all on him. Lot's of issues this year contributed to the offensive decline. The D was also not up to the task and they have even less excuses. I expect a lot of changes and probably back to a lot of years of being more like the old Bucs I know and love. The team that has me looking at draft classes starting about mid October

Stating what the rules currently are isn't really an argument. We're complaining about the rules.

It wasn’t intended to be an argument. Y’all got that covered. I am mostly indifferent.
Many of y’all do agree. I don’t agree or disagree, like I said. I can see the benefits of proceeding either way and certainly understand why they give divisional winners a home game in wild card week. It would have benefited the Saints in the past, so if I want to be biased, I could agree with giving better record teams the home game. But since they aim for parity, and because 3 games on the schedule are based on where a team finished in a division, I get their side too. They award draft order based on record, so there is value for record in that if not the ability to get a 1-4 seed.
I’m on Esteban’s side of this argument. I don’t agree that the playoffs should be seeded based solely on records. I think division winners deserve a home game.
Take the NFC East and AFC North, for example. Each had collectively the best overall records in their conferences. But which divisions were their cross conference opponents this year? The AFC north played the NFC south and NFC East played the AFC South, the two divisions with the worst records. It’s just not as cut and dry as you might think when every team doesn’t play every other team

These are good points except I don’t really have a side. I accept that the NFL knows what it’s doing but don’t hold them as infallible. It’s not a major issue for me.

I think division winners should get a home game and the 4 seed at worst. This stuff only happens once every few years. Division games are hard to win and I think it keeps rivalries more interesting if these games mean more.

why does it need to mean more than a playoff berth though? A playoff berth is a huge carrot.

isn't that mitigated by the fact they played each other? The Commanders played six division games against playoff teams! For how they performed on the field I don't think there's much argument that the Commanders were worse than the Bucs this year.

idk man I just think its cool that division rivalries mean as much as they do. Winning the division should mean something other than being the 1 or 3 seed. There's a reward in winning the division and knocking your rival down to a WC and forcing them to go on the road.
