Holy shit. Has Mad Dog ever posted during a Vikings game? Are you Kirk cousins in disguise?
Seeing someone die on the Kurt Cousins hill is just fascinating and ridiculous. Maddog definitely has to be in the Cousins payroll otherwise it makes no sense. Like, glitch in the simulation ridiculous.
🥱
let me know when you figure out who's better that's available to the Vikings besides blowing up the team and giving up on having the 2nd best RB and a top 10 wr in their prime
That honestly might be one of the best destinations for him from a football perspective. And maybe you'd have to give up less draft capital if Baker is part of the deal? How would you feel about that though

Way more starting QB's than seasons since Bernie hung it up. This even includes the years without a franchise when the OG Browns moved to Baltimore. How can one team with so many different coaches ruin or miss on so many QB's? I kind of like the Browns and always have. But you ain't going to get in the conversation with this kind of track record.

From a football perspective it’s a clear upgrade, I just worry about the cost being too high with other teams competing for him. From the moral perspective idk honestly I’ll worry about potential mental gymnastics later.

I really don’t think any of that is even relevant tbh
It is if y'all are giving up on Mayfield - or if not giving up on him, using him as collateral. Because then you'd add another QB to the list in Watson. Whether or not he would be successful there is yet to be determined. But he'd be yet another name on the list.

Burrow, Watson, Jackson in one division is almost as crazy as Mahomes, Wilson, Herbert. Especially since the AFC North has always kind of had this tougher reputation in my eyes. High flying quarterback play hasn't really defined the division but this could get really interesting and fun

The people who were responsible for all that disfunction are long gone from the org.
Yes they are. The Haslams are close to if not at 10 years of ownership control. You've only got a couple seasons under Berry > Stefanski, so I'm not blaming any of them for the past failures. But a franchise's history is still part of what it is. So it's not like it's something that can be completely ignored given the outlier status of the number of QB's the last couple of decades.

Ok, I just don’t think that a QB list from the past is even in the top 10 of things deshaun is considering in potential destinations. We’ve been rolling with baker for 4 years. This narrative isn’t relevant anymore

Absolutely disgusted if they go for Watson. Baker may not be the guy but at least he's not a rapist piece of shit

I wasn't implying it would play into his decision making. It's shit fans talk about. I'd rather you guys get him than the Panthers if we are unsuccessful. Panthers have a substantially better first round pick than us (6 vs. 18). Browns are 13th I think. So both of your picks (+5 for Browns and +12 for Panthers) are much more valuable this year.
Walter Football and Drafttek have it Pick #6 = 1600, Pick #13 = 1150; Pick #18 = 900.

Part of the reasons I was hoping we’d end up with Watson is so that he didn’t end up at Carolina. Having to deal with Tom Brady coming back again is bad enough. But if he ends up at Cleveland, I wouldn’t hate it

I agree I wouldn't want him anywhere near my team, but its also easy to say that having 1st ballot HOF Justin Herbert as my QB.
Just shitposting, but losing Williams off that defense. Imagine they just can't compete with the contracts amongst cap constrictions
I expected that and posted about it on the previous page last night in the auspice of if we had to sacrifice cap money for a Watson or Winston deal - which was probably the 4th time I've mentioned Marcus in the last 2 weeks here. We declined to franchise tag him this year, and we also declined to do anything with Armstead. That's the way we play the game. Because of our scouting and ability to mine gems from the both the draft and UDFA market, some people get priced out of what we can afford when it comes time for new contracts. It's no different from losing Von Bell and Trey Hendrickson last year. Do the work and get paid. Meanwhile, we're nearly always near the top anyway. Such is life in the Mickey Loomis cap world. We tendered Deonte Harty (fka Deonte Harris) with a second as an RFA, so he will be free to go out and test the market with us having the ability to match or get compensation.
From 14 hours ago:
If Loomis and Ireland think Watson can help us compete for a title while we still have most of this defense intact, you make the trade expecting to lose Marcus Williams, having to let Malcolm Jenkins walk again (crying) and possibly trade Davenport so we would need mega Safety help and then hope Payton Turner can step into that power edge role. Davenport is awesome, but he hasn’t been able to stay healthy. He cost us two first rounders to get him when we traded with the pack for #14 in 2018. So he’s at least 1.3 additional first rounders.
I love Williams, but he's part of two of the worst plays in our franchise's history - particularly the so-called Minnesota Miracle. So take this!
Update to what I posted in italics. The Saints [tm] have restructured the 5th year of Marcus Davenport's contract moving it to a signing bonus and getting us to about the cap (might still be $2MM over or so) which we have to be under by 4:00pm tomorrow. We'll make that happen. One of my friends was guessing that if we are the suitor for Watson and trade away all those firsts, we'll just get a couple back next year from Dallas if the Cowboys underperform and decide it's time to hire Sean Payton.
We were never going to be Day 1 or Day 2 FA players. Jacksonville, possibly overpaying for some guys, seems like the big dogs in FA so far.
