Howie hit the nuclear button. The contract is ass though
Put hurts in the best possible position to succeed and if he doesn’t see how our pick + saints pick shakes out next year and try and get stroud or young.
Aj is still young as hell, but if he can stay healthy, is the perfect compliment to smitty

Yep. Even if they had gotten Jameson you have a young core on offense and you find the qb while theyre on rookie deals. No excuses now with whats getting put together. 4 picks left over the next 2 days, hope they make em count. Need a LB if possible. Howie is the most anti lb gm ever.
Those 4 picks gonna be really interesting. Still glad philly is at 15.
We ain't tanking - not intentionally anyway. We'll probably grab our new starting-left-tackle-for-the-next-decade and Chris Olave WR from tOSU back to back...
Not exactly as planned but we got what we wanted. Understands football.
I don't understand what the Saints are doing with this trade
It’s either LT/WR, more pieces for something else or an advance on first rounds for Coach Payton in the next 3 years. It mostly cost us a 2nd in 2024 to move up..

Maybe I don't watch and/or understand as much football as esteban, but I think it's wishful thinking for Penning to come in and be the LT Day One for the Saints. He's a project. There's definite skill there to mold but he needs reps against NFL caliber edge guys.

Lol. It was too early to fully combat national-media groupthink and comb the thread for where I said Dennis Allen was our coach, Jameis Winston was our QB and that we'd win over 7.5 games instead of tanking (which we will). People bag on Coach Marrone, but he's a great line coach. I want to say Penning had like a 99.9 score run blocking, so that's already part of his package. Ram is also a run-blocking beast. Zach Strief is the assistant line coach and was a rock for us on the o-line for a decade. Between 2011-2017 when he anchored the right side, we are first in offense overall. Zach is a pretty nasty blocker as well and knows what it takes to be successful.
Penning will face perennial pro-bowler Cam Jordan in practice along with several stars and soon-to-be stars we have on our defensive line - Payton Turner, Tanoh Kpassagnon, Marcus Davenport, Taco Charlton and David Onyemata. Most of our guys play inside and out, and also possess multiple moves and techniques to get after quarterbacks from speed to strength to skill moves. He'll be fine IMHO.
I’m so excited to have him. We love tOSU players and have had a ton of luck with them panning out. He compliments Michael Thomas pretty well. It’s our first WR taken in the first since Brandin Cooks.
I was telling my father-in-law a week ago that I wanted the Saints to add Tyrann Matheiu, re-sign Kwon Alexander, and re-sign PJ Williams. And then in the draft, I was hoping we'd grab an OT in the first like Trevor Penning and a WR in the second round.
Since then, they've re-signed PJ and now this move with Philly to give the Saints 2 top 20 picks and 3 total top 50 picks. I'm still hoping they go WR and OT with 16 and 19, maybe get a DT or TE with the 49th pick. I think prior to the PJ signing they were over $19M under cap, so there's still room to grow
Right on track. I’m excited to see what the Saints get at 49. I would still like to see them re-sign Kwon and lock down Mathieu.

Yeah. I want Kwon back too though I'm not sure if we can afford him. I'm super surprised he hasn't signed with anyone yet.
esteban just doesn’t realize he’s in the same place my Broncos were at in 2016-2017:
HOF QB retired HOF coach quit winning tradition slips to .500 no LT QB answer salary cap issues significant player departures
If they trade for Kirk Cousins they’d at least maintain that .500 record… Dad Dog
It’s not exactly the same place. We SHOULD have made the playoffs last year, and our roster is improved (health issues and player additions.). It remains to be seen whether Winston can be the QB Saints fans hope he can be. And that’s going to go a long way with our defense mostly intact minus the safeties.
