when i think "comedy movie" i'm thinking more pure comedy. like if it ever got any awards recognition or even awards buzz, it's not a comedy movie.
Under that definition probably my most favorite recent comedy movie was Game Night? But also I’ve barely watched any movies that have come out in the past two years so I do not feel like I have any definitive opinions here.

My theory was always it was memes that killed the comedy film.

I like how many votes Letterkenny's getting. I know it's because most people don't know what it is, but my GF's shitty brother LOVES that show. It's so "white boy summer" and like...I get that the dialogue style is unique but the rest of it is trash.

Late to respond, but I legit wasn't trying to troll with that Fresh Prince post and I'm surprised at the reaction. I thought most of the affection was nostalgia based.

Not sure awards are a good metric anyway, all the ones that get televised mostly go for soft brained bullshit. Adam McKay has a million nominations now.

I made (not really made but you know what I mean) alawre watch Long Shot a week or two ago bc I enjoyed it when I watched it on a whim a year or two ago. She was a fan as well. Nothing groundbreaking but it has some good laughs in it.
