sort of interested in the difference between Portland and Seattles votes, I feel like they're basically the same city except Portland is cheaper to be in
Portland seems cool. I wonder if people have actually been or if their votes are based on Portlandia.
I've been. Visited as a side trip when I was on the PCT. I had fun and thought it was cool. But I have family and a couple of friends who are quite disenchanted with it. Most people who live in Portland and are "weird" aren't actually from Portland but just flocked there once it gained the reputation for being weird. People actually from Portland just like smoking weed and going hiking, which is like everyone everywhere else.
It has a lot of the same problems as other west coast cities, but people there like to pretend it doesn't. I remember being very high and thinking people there just try too hard.

I've not been to Honolulu, NOLA, or Nashville. I'll give props to NOLA - all my friends who go love it, and I have a pal who lives in Nashville and loves it as well.

just kinda seems like a cesspool of a place a lot of the time
granted i’ve never been so i could be swayed
This brings up a question I’d find it interesting to see answered.
How many people here have been to all the remaining cities? How many had been to all the cities on the original list?
I’m just curious. To answer my own question, I’ve been to all of them but Honolulu.
Of those left, I’ve never been to Portland, Philadelphia, Atlanta, or Miami.
I’ve only been to New York long enough to walk from the bus station (from Atlantic City) to a pizza place to MSG for Phish’s 2002 NYE return show and then back to the bus station, so I’m not sure that even counts.

but is that different from Seattle?
Portland is smaller, cheaper, and not controlled by Amazon. There's a lot of city ordinances that prevent it from growing in a fast and significant way (and therefore can "keep Portland weird"). I found the nature more accessible because the city limits are smaller, and the public transit is pretty great.

There is good country music. I like a lot of the country artists people here like, probably. But the great majority, the stuff most people actually listen to, is awful music that celebrates the worst cultural tendencies of the United States. Not gonna pretend a genre dominated by the likes of Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs, Cody Johnson, Carrie Underwood, etc. isn't gross just because Orville Peck and Kacey Musgraves exist.
well they said "we don't do this type of thing in miami" so that's a point in miami's favor. for a minute i thought shitting your pants on the dance floor was a standard miami practice, to whit i would've demanded miami be gone this round.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Of those left--I've been to Philly (and think it is better than y'all are making it sound, tbh), Boston, NYC, Atlanta, Chicago (but as a kid), obviously DC (lived there for ~2 yrs), Nashville. Somehow not L.A. but have been to other Cali spots multiple times.

Of those left, I haven't been to Seattle, Portland, and Miami. Portland is the only one that I have a huge urge to visit (though I imagine I would be checking Portland and Seattle off in the same trip eventually).
