To quote Stefan, this place has everything. You want arts? We got arts like nobody’s business. You want douchebags? We got some of the biggest douchebags in the world. Your city has a rap scene? Cool, hip-hop was born here. You want gentrification? We’ve got that covered, too. Public transportation? 24/7, cheap, and expansive. Traffic? Try going over the GWB at rush hour. Food? Some of the best restaurants in the world and cuisines from every part of the place. Bad random smells and pools of unidentifiable liquid on the street? Around every corner.
Basically, we’ve got the most of the best and worst of everything.
I will push back on the “far from nature” thing, though. Central, Prospect, Riverside, and Van Cortlandt Parks are all great, Coney Island and Rockaway Beach are accessible by subway, and there is fantastic hiking less than an hour on the Metro North train from Grand Central Station or on NJ Transit from Penn Station. I know that may not measure up to some other cities on the list, but it ain’t nothing. My wife and I hiked our asses off during the first wave of the pandemic, and not a single one of those excursions was more than a day trip.
I don’t think this is entirely fair. Plenty of other places smell bad and have high rents, and NYC has Central Park. We should really vote it out for its stupid custom of naming trains after letters, its disgusting accent, James Murphy,
Central Park is for rich people, and the lucky people who live in lower Harlem.
OMG no helmet! I'm hyperventilating. No lights. On the freeway. In the wrong lane. Red lights, no big deal.
hey at least he shouts clear once. while that video is insane, driver inattention is the biggest cause of bike death in nyc and most cities and as soon as you stop you lose control over where you're going. MPD clipping me while i was perfectly obeying the rules of the road definitely made me change my style a bit. Really hope to spend an extended period in the chaos of nyc some day.

Not triggered at all. not at all
Lmao as I was writing that I felt bad because I was thinking “oh man deto’s gonna hate that bit.”
Baked and basked. It was a Saoirse day in Florida. I took her ass to Bay Bluffs and one of the dog parks yesterday, but today was Bayview Park dog bayou swimming hole. She loves to swim but is prone to go way the fuck out there. So I made her wear a floatation device because even though Bayou Texar wasn’t super cold today, I’d have been a motherfucker to have to go swim in that bitch to grab her. Then I took her down to the bay front by Blue Wahoos stadium and another walk in the veterans park when I was waiting for my food to be ready that I was picking up from McGuire’s. So we got a few miles of walking in as well. She made friends with dogs and numerous lesbian couples today. Hooray. Viva the Cola.
