Feels a bit uninspiring tbh, Levitation always comes through with a stelar line-up with some dope (exclusive?) (smaller) acts and this first batch idk. All of the big names pretty much tour everywhere and/or are easy to catch. GY!BE is nice tho.
This is how music festivals work.
I'm aware, yet Levitation year after year had always come through with a combination of names where it really felt like it's own thing. Last year you had Yves Tumor, Boy Harsher, Tinariwen, Black Midi, Angelica Garcia, Shabazz Palaces, Arooj Aftab, Drab Majesty, George Clanton.. Now you have GY!BE, Shame, Promomartyr, Moon Duo, Libanon Hangover, Slift, Viagra Boys (twice), Soft Kill.. feels more samey aswell.
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
Has antones or scoot hosted levitation shows in the past?
Antones, definitely not and Scoot did when Levitation got rained out which created this multi venue format.
Gotcha. I thought scoot made sense but was very surprised reading antones name on the venue list for this year. I figure all four oh sees are gonna be at Vegas but I’d love for one of them at Antones

Maybe I'm not understanding your argument but the acts from last year you mentioned aren't rare at all.

I'm surprised they didn't utilize other venues like Elysium or Valhalla. Both would have made it convenient to stay on Red River.
Some cool shows. I'd definitely do the Automatic/Protomartyr/JAMC and Shame/Viagra Boys shows if I was going to be in town. I know this is a controversial opinion around these parts but it's kinda boring they gave King Gizz two nights at Stubbs.
Pretty much my thoughts. You can always count off a headliner because the slot will be filled by Black Angels so the others really need to knock it out of the park. Also, it's unknown if these are even 3 hour sets.
So Friday only has Leah Senior and KG, doors at 5:30 and it ends at 10:30, do maybe a three hour set then?

I want to believe that but Levitation will add more acts to each show. And KG have been pretty clear on which shows are 3 hours sets. If this was 3 hours, I feel they would have mentioned it already to boost sales.

It’s basically impossible for non C3 fests to happen in Austin. C3 even owns the old Fun Fun Fun permit that allows them to use auditorium shores. Or at least they did.

Carson Creek Ranch was a great spot until they kicked them out. The venue they used for Sound on Sound, the Renaissance Fair spot, looks super cool and I wish someone would use that again
Texas desperately could use another non-venue fest besides ACL. We used to have so many and we're down to just that now. FFF used to be such great counter programming to ACL, I miss it so much
In for both nights of Gizz @ Stubbs and then scoot over Friday night to Mohawk for the end of the Shame/Viagra Boys show. Should be a fun, killer little weekend.
Plus, I didn't think individual ticket prices were that bad compared to what Ive been paying.
They made some updates to the schedule. Notably listing Legendary Pink Dots specifically on the Empire Indoor stage after Godspeed (previously they were listed as an opener. Have to wonder if they'll add an opener for Godspeed now.) Same for Imarhan on the Thursday show. Probably some other updates too.
Also, the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets show is listed as sold out now.

Officially purchased tickets for OCs Thursday, Godspeed, and the first Gizz show. Almost certainly getting a ticket to the second Gizz show as well. Then might go to OCs or L7 on Sunday or might just head home. Anyone going to any of those? (I see you, finch and cowz. Let's rock.)

OCs ripped. Idk if they're doing no repeats in the four nights but Toe Cutter/Thumb Buster, Tidal Wave, Chem-Farmer/Nite Expo and I Come From the Mountain are some heavy hitters for N1. Lots of new album, too.

Considering the venue it won't be camping.
Ahhh ok I don't know anything about the venue. I guess I'll be staying at my friends place then. Still, much rather this than a great with multiple venues like levitation
